Would Whisenhunt be a good choice as HC for the Chargers?

Actually, I see a couple of disturbing similarities between this past season's Cardinals and the Chargers; specifically - Both teams have good players scattered throughout their rosters but the talent on each doesn't appear to be well organized to win.

For this reason, I don't think Wiz and SD are necessarily a good fit.

Our problem was not with Whisenhunt. We had a HORRIBLE GM & our Ownership is well below average. No HC has ever or will ever have long-term success with the Bidwill's owning this team. I've been a fan for 50 years, so I know the Bidwills well. We've been hoping the son Michael is different from his Dad, but I'm starting to see the same attributes of Daddy Bidwill. Most on this board are in denial about that, so we'll just wait and see. Being in a weak division, & Manning aging by the day, Whiz can have the Chargers winning that division within 2 years. Good hire for Chargers!

Looking for 5-11 with 'em and 5-11 without 'em seasons has caused me to do a complete 180 and am now 100% with you on this. Since moving to Arizona the Cards have lost 11 games or more 13 times!. That's more than half the seasons. It's not the coaches or the players its the Bidwills. They must be doing something to perpetuate a culture of losing at Warner and Hardy. It can't be anything else with that history.

Firing Whisenhunt and hiring someone else will do no good. The Cards got lucky for a couple of seasons and somehow managed to have a roster full of talented veteran players on the roster 2008-2009 but it didn't take long for the team to revert back to their double digit losing ways.

5-11 with the Bidwills. 11-5 without 'em????

Yes, he would be a great choice, as long as he leaves Grimm at home. Whiz's problem was never about getting the most out of a good QB, it was finding a good QB in the first place. Rivers would thrive under him, I think, unless he got in Whiz's doghouse. Then maybe you'd see a competition at QB. If that happens, you're at the beginning of a downward spiral.

Other than that, though, I think he is one of the strongest coaching candidates left standing right now. You'd be lucky to have him.

According to one poster on that board, Whis had been offered the Buffalo job but turned it down? First I've heard of that ...

I thought one of the jobs he was up for had an issue over roster control...

I see this happening. Whiz set the table to put Manning in a Cardinal uniform, and the Bidwills forgot to buy dinner.

Count me in as a non-believer in the "everything is Whiz's fault" category. I, too, have been a fan far too long to think believe anything different other than the ineptitude of the Cards FO.

Whiz is a great coach.

I'd handicap this Eagles search as 4-horse race between Gus, Whiz, Lovie and Billick. Still think Gus is lead horse, with Whiz right there.

Interesting.
