Can you remember a WR who "broke out" at age 28?
Wes Welker was on multiple teams and not a 1,000 yard receiver until he was 26... Troy Brown is a similar name, a guy who was 30 when he recorded his first 1,000 yard game.

Not very common, but it can happen. I don't think it will happen here.

That’s cheap for a guy that has speed and size.

Didn’t realize he was that old. That said by “breakout” I mean becoming a reliable asset. Thinking in the range of 40 catches and 600 yards. To me that’s a breakout compared to prior years. I don’t think that would be unheard of.

Brice Butler ready to no longer be a ‘pinch-hitter’ with Cardinals
Tempe, Ariz. — There is a clear spot to fill in terms of the No. 2 wide receiver position for the Arizona Cardinals.

Cardinals wideout Brice Butler is not only hoping to fill that void, but show off his true receiving talent in the process.

“I’m going to prove it, that’s why I came here,” Butler said Thursday following the final day of OTAs. “I definitely didn’t come here to not be out on the field with Larry [Fitzgerald], but it’s not going to be given to me. I have to go out there and do what I can do to prove that I can do that day in and day out, down in and down out.

I hope the best for the guy. The opportunity certainly is there. With Christian Kirk being more of a slot guy, I think Butler will see the field with plenty of opportunities as the X or Y. I wonder how our usage of the TE/FB will affect that 3 WR lineup we've grown so accustomed to seeing though.

That is the Cardinals' plan. We will see.

5 years in the league at this point. You never know.

Seems like the wide receiver room is a bunch of question marks.

Personally, I am happier to have a room of question marks, then a room full of players who are hurt, or have substance abuse problems.

Not a big shocker to have a room full of unknowns when 3 out of your 4 "top" (if you could call them that) receivers leave.

The bar is set really low at the moment. Will Butler care more about football than alcohol ? Will Kirk be able to warm the bench as good as John Brown ?

Everything over that is icing in comparison to last year.

:shrug:I didn’t see anything on the internet that suggest that Butler had a problem with alcohol. I’m probably missing the sarcasm in said post.

Arizona Cardinals' Brice Butler 'going to prove' he is worthy of being team's No. 2 WR

Bruce Arians is taking his talents to CBS Sports as one of the network’s in-game NFL analysts, but the former Cardinals coach has promised to always keep a sharp eye on the one team that give him his first and only shot to be a full-time NFL head coach.

“I like the acquisitions Steve has been making,” Arians said recently, referring to General Manager Steve Keim. “I thought it was a real solid offseason for him and the Cardinals.”

Of all the moves, you probably won’t guess the one Arians likes the most. Go ahead, think about it. Give up yet?
