Year after year... camp after camp... preseason after preseason and game after game, so many here bitch and moan about the love shown the 9ers and the unending disrespect levied against the Cards. Well, what transpired yesterday in Atlanta and tonight in San Francisco should entirely eliminate these constant gripes.
IMO, the 9ers are a better team than the Cards and 100% deserved all of the preseason hype they received this year. They have legit studs and playmakers all over the place. Smith, while not a future hall of famer, is more than serviceable and is showing signs of incredible improvement and maturity. Their o-line is more than solid. Anthony Davis and Iupati are totally legit and FOR REAL! Frank Gore is a beast. Vernon Davis is top 2-3 in the NFL. Crabtree appears to be a budding star. Josh Morgan is a great #2. Patrick Willis is a Ray Lewis soon to be. Goldson is a pure stud and arguably more consistently effective than A-Dub.
And for all the mayhem Sing causes and the inability to get plays called on time, they only committed 5 penalties and for the most part, played like a well-coached team.

What happens when the Cards are on nationally televised games? Aside from the post season runs, the Cards have made it a habit to get destroyed when the spotlights are shinning. Tonight, the 9ers acquitted themselves extremely well and demonstrated why all of the preseason love was warranted. Meanwhile, we showed why all of the massive disrespect was also totally warranted...

The 9ers are legit. This is going to get very interesting...

Meh, they are 0-2; nobody gives a crap about losers... and they had -4 in the turnover battle.

I saw the 49ers lose today and get bitch slapped last week. They are 0-2. I wouldnt call them the gold standard of the division when they are currently last and have a terrible coach.

Like last season, they will be on the wrong end of close games because of poor decision making.

While I agree on all points they still are behind us in the standings, though 8 games into the season I'm not sure we will be able to say the same. Maybe the West is won at 6-10 :D

Yeah, just crown their ass!!!

:bang:

Definitely not crowning their asses O. However, I saw a team tonight that IMO, is loaded with young talent. Compared to the Cards, where we have guys like Porter, Haggans, B-Rob, A-Dub - they have very young, very talented potential stars. I really don't think that's debatable.

I'll give you that; just think we got Roberts in the 3rd and they took Bowman...

This is just one game wonder moment for them IMO. Prime time game played at home with a HOFer having his jersey retired at halftime. Don't expect Smith or their offensive line to maintain their play. I do want that defense and Patrick Willis. Absolutely nasty, the Cards D is night and day compared to theirs. Wish Manusky was the DC.

jesus. quit slobber knocking the 49ers. nothing has changed. they still lose games with alex smith as their qb. he continually makes the killer mistake. sure he played a decent game, but at the end of the night he still found a way too blow opportunities. we knew they have a good defense and a great run game but they are not invincible.

They should change their name to the, San Francisco Shoulda-woulda-couldas."

They really are like the cards from 2004 to 2007-2008. You can see the talent there, they just cant quite put it together.

I expected them to do exactly what they did.play it close with a defense and a run game. smith makes a few plays and yet they still lose. that's their mo. what's changed?

I seriously doubt we had this type of young, promising talent during those years... But the shoulda, woulda coulda part is about right.

Someone tell me what's the hype with Goldson and Crabtree? How the hell is he a more consistent Adub because of one game? Hasselbeck completed passes at will last week and Goldson gave up what was essentially the GW reception this week and got lucky on Drew Brees overthrows on the deep passes. Crabtree has recorded 3 receptions this season!!!

Right...

I don't think anything has changed. They came within a hair of taking the defending SB Champs into OT, on Monday Night. In so doing, they validated all of the "experts" preseason hype that they are the class of the NFC WORST division. In the shadow of the Cards complete meltdown, where, with the exception of a player or two the entire team chose not to show, yes... I guess nothing has chnaged... :bang:

Cardsgrad, could you be any more of a darksider? Sure, they played a tough game against the world champs, but ultimately, they're still 0-2. Our team still has a lot of talent, and it's completely ridiculous to dismiss them just yet, especially considering we're still tied for the driver's seat in the division. We don't look good, but neither does anyone else.

Who cares what the so called "experts" say?

You're preaching to the choir! However, go back and look at the number of threads that were started when the 9ers were universally selected as the NFC West champs... you and I are in the minority with regard to the "experts"...

And, that issue aside, I believe the 9ers are a better team right now, period. They have better, younger talent across the field.
I believe if not for Steve Breaston, we would be 0 & 2 with a loss at the hands of the Rams. Coupled with a total debacle on Sunday.
