Anyone claiming Cards fans are a cut above are full of BS. I had season tickets at SDS and a couple seasons at UofP and with the amount of apposing fans in the stands the drunken incidents laced with colorful language was off the charts. I gave up 4 seats because it was not worth the trek to listen to lowlife Cowpuke fans or (insert your team here)try and ruin the game for me and my kids by arguing with drunken Cards fan idiots. I have never understood the mob mentality but it is alive and well at UofP. Philly fans may have cheered Michael Irvins injury but our fans cheered our own Qb's injury( Kent Graham).
Not sure if we were cheering his injury or just the fact that he was in the way of Jake playing and him going down was a step close to Plummer getting on the field. Then again.........

That was so classless it wasn't even funny...that was you parading around in the stadium with that sheet? Honestly that was one of the lowest points I've personally seen by Cardinal fans.

Cheering an injury to anyone, even a scum bag like Michael Irvin is classless, cheering an injury by our own player was even worse.

Yeah we had a sheet and spray paint with us waiting for him to get hurt so we could make a sign and carry it around SDS. The banner had nothing to do with the injury, and wasn't "paraded" around after he went down. The only reason it even got made was because he threatened to kick my ass the week before after we were heckling him for blowing the Minnesota game. Im willing to bet prior to his injury that Sunday, you were chanting 'We want Jake" as the banner was making its way around SDS, unless of course you're related to Kent.

Again, my contention is that the cheering that occurred when he got hurt, wasnt people cheering an injury to Kent Graham, but rather what they saw as an oppertunity for Jake Plummer, the golden boy, to get on the field. Of course the idea of "classless fans" and a "shameful crowd", makes a good story, so that is what the paper and local talk radio ran with the for the next week, and in turn is what most people remember about that whole thing.

Stop and think back how excited you were when the Cards drafted Jake, and how bad you couldnt wait for him get on the field and do what he did at ASU in Cardinals red. Then remember the excitement after we beat the Cowboys in week 2, and then let down of losing the next 3, and being on the way to losing number 4 in a row during that Giants game, and the terrible QB play from Graham, and honestly tell me you were not excited that Graham going down was Jake's chance. No one was excited that someone was injured, they were excited about a chance for Jake. That's why people were cheering, not because they were classless.

There is a time to cheer a player comming on the field. When the guy he is replacing is lying hurt on the field it isn't the time to cheer. It shows a lack of class.

Absolutely. That was classless and stupid and made all Cardinal fans look bad.

Not to mention Stoney Case was the guy coming on not Jake.

If you think that was acceptable thats on you. IMO and the opinion of many others it wasn't, people stood up and cheered when he got hurt, its not like you put the sign away either and I remember specifically you guys showing up the next year when he returned with the Giants doing the same thing, marching all over the stadium with that sign thinking it was funny, but it wasn't, but I had less a problem with it since he was no longer a Cardinal.

And no I wasn't one of the people chanting "we want Jake" as Graham threw for nearly 300 YDs and no INTs against the Vikings...pinning that loss on him is ridiculous. I remember that game specifically and thinking just how ignorant our fan base was, I was a huge Jake Plummer fan but I knew enough to know that our problems went way past the QB.

That's funny. But, in defense of the kid, I think he was trying to flash the peace sign but had his hands full!

This thread reminds me of a few years back when I got a seat near Gee...a green-haired 'hags fan sat near us and Gee started in on him even before the game started...poor guy went to get a beer and never came back :biglaugh:

Without question next year Gee. I think we'll play either the Bucs or Eagles out there, which means I'm making a go of either of those games. I'm wantin the Philly one for real tho. If they win the East, I think it's locked in.

I smack talk Cardinals fans in real life all the time and they smack back my team. It's all in good fun man. At the end of the day, I never disrepected anyone personally. I wouldn't mind visiting UoP one day, and trust me, when I am there I will be dipped in Niners gear...ain't no shame in my game!

When you say "niners' gear, which of these outfits are you speaking of?

Never mind, they're all pretty much the same anyhow. :)
