Why can't opposing team's fans wear their jersey's and attend game in peace and cheer their teams without getting harrassed, threatened, and/or injured???
Why should they be able to? They aren't the home team, they should respect the other teams house by not wearing the opposition jersey.

I guess it must be different in the NFL but i'm used to away fans being put in a different section of the stadium so they are all together (footie i'm talking about here). This isn't just a GAME its sports. It means much more to many people than just a jolly day out. They were stupid enough to wear niners jerseys to the game they reaped the consequences.

I'm not saying I condone figting but too much is being made of this. They clearly weren't being hurt or they would have moved quicker and the Philly fans would have moved too.

It's funny how two-faced Eagles fans can be on their perceived loutishness; if media brings up the Santa Claus incident or the MIchael Irvin injury, they will moan about how they are being painted by the broad brush in one sentence but then turn around and take pride in the same actions the next.

Anyone claiming Cards fans are a cut above are full of BS. I had season tickets at SDS and a couple seasons at UofP and with the amount of apposing fans in the stands the drunken incidents laced with colorful language was off the charts. I gave up 4 seats because it was not worth the trek to listen to lowlife Cowpuke fans or (insert your team here)try and ruin the game for me and my kids by arguing with drunken Cards fan idiots. I have never understood the mob mentality but it is alive and well at UofP. Philly fans may have cheered Michael Irvins injury but our fans cheered our own Qb's injury( Kent Graham). Talk about lowlifes. Look in the mirror. I think our stadium attracts them from both home and visting team fans. I will watch it on my Tv and skip the Endzone malays that seem to always happen.

. It means much more to many people than just a jolly day out.

that's because people are pathetic

there is really no other word

if you derive any self worth from the actions of millionares you are a dope

it's all entertainment

there are way too many other serious issues in this world for people to get so personally invested in the actions of others which they have no influence over

and the "house" that everyone mentions is a public building, built with public funding that you gain admittance to by purchasing a ticket

there is no ownership over it by any individual in that stadium that is greater than any other individual

it reminds me of watching lakers fans walk around screaming "we own dis place" while popping their jerseys, holding up their jackets and acting like goons ........ psst, you didn't win crap, there is no check coming in the mail, you do not get residuals, you aren't flying on the plane, you aren't getting team issued apparrel ..... you are purchasing everything, you are paying to be on the fringes and tommorrow you shall return to your pathetic life with little value or meaning where you will try to scrape together a couple more nickels so you can continue to spend to feel good by association

I had Niners fans pelt me with food years ago (mustard coated pieces of hot dogs, pretzels.. hard candies etc) I wasn't even wearing any Cards gear... as it was a last minute decision while I was in the Bay to catch the game.

I did what any rational person would do, I singled out one of them.. followed him to his car from a distance and left him napping near his car.

Just because it is happenning does not make it right or acceptable... If it is happenning in soccer, it is equally bad.

Yes, anyone should be able to wear whatever they like and attend any game anywhere. Period.

LIAC to be fair, that would have happened in most NFL stadiums, and you know it. Eagles fans are utterly disgusting for the most part, but I'm not gonna let you take a swing at all Philly fans over a common incident.

I think Philly is the only NFL stadium to have had a courtroom and judge there so they can process all the arrests that are made during game day. I think it closed recently but they still have jail cells in the stadium.

They vaulted to the top of my most hated list last year during the NFC Championship game nothing but a bunch of loudmouths & poor losers.

To clarify, there are no jail cells in the Linc.

No it wouldn't happen in most NFL stadiums. Incidents such as this are not "common" unless of course you are in Philly. I guarantee you wouldnt see this happen in Denver or Chicago with their snow filled stadiums.

If soccer was to change to become a 'lets hold hands and skip in the sun' type game then it would lose a good % of its fans. I have never got in a fight at a sports event but I love the tension. It's what makes sports great. It's what sets it apart from everything else. It makes the victories sweeter and the losses harder but I wouldn't have it any other way.

The NFL should have sections for visiting fans like European sports. The you can get proper banter going between the two sets.

Considering that people used to get trampled and killed on occasion at soccer games I can see your mentality. Even though that mentality is just plain ignorant and wrong.

Christ almighty. You are the one with the problem. If you can't control yourself from creating tension to actually fighting then that's you, not me. I can tell the difference between banter/singing and actual violence.

As I said - I have NEVER once been in a fight at a soccer game but have had many instances of high tension that add to the experience. If you haven't gone through it then I feel sorry for you as you are really missing out.

I have also never seen anyone trampled because of violence. I have been trampled a bit myself but only because I feel over when celebrating a late goal.

Shane, it would have. Don't act like Denver, Cleveland, Chicago are angels. Maybe not to the extreme shown (That's Eagles fans for you) but the only reason it's ever an issue is because the media loves to piant all Philly fans with the same brush. My brother and his boy went to Chicago for a Boys/Bears game, and although most were well behaved, they ran into their share of jerks.

Tension is one thing, trying to hurt others is a completely different thing... we certainly don not want these things to eventually become what is happenning in European soccer, i.e. people getting seriously hurt and even killed. Its for some brief entertainment for crying out loud.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm proud to be a Philadelphian, and proud of the people that represent my fellow Phillie, Flyers and Sixers fans. It's just a shame that Eagles fans largely are a different breed. They love their squad to death, and that's to be applauded. The way they show it, verbally, and physically assaulting opposing fans is not. For those of you that kep on denigrating all Philly fans, I ask you, have you ever been to a game in Philadelphia? Or do you just mindlessly go by what the media says? At the least, talk to someone who has before you spout garbage.

There is a big difference between being a jerk and what I saw on that video. I still beg to differ that you would see an occurrence such as that in those two cities. Likely not in Cleveland either.

Doesn't matter what they prefer. It is a public event in a public venue. They may do their damnedest to try an limit it. But still anyone has a right to be there dressed as they please.

Been to many sporting events in Philly over the years, including several Eagle-Giants games. I never saw any of the violence being talked about in this thread. Lots of verbal warfare, but never a punch or anything else thrown. I can't say the same for what I used to witness at SDS.

So, if someone comes to a Cards game wearing other team's gear, will you try to hurt them?

You can prevent that by making sure majority of the stadium is filled by Cards fan. THAT is protecting the nest.

You need to make sure we win ALL our home games convincingly. THAT is protecting the nest.

But, if some handful of opposing fans come in their gears, so be it. You can holler and hoot. Have some friendly verbal fight. That is ok. But, trying to physically harrass or harm is not right nor should be acceptable.

To me the Protect the Nest campaigns are clear indications that opposing fans are not welcome in our house.. Of course they can not stop them from coming to the games, but again, the Cards have made it clear that opposing fans are not welcome..

Sure... no problem with that... I don't like opposite fans in our nest a bit either.

I was just trying to clarify what does "not welcome" means in the context of this thread discussion.

so how does protect the nest correlate with the fan code of conduct that the cards also post and go out of their way to mention?

just because you are part of a mob doesn't give you a right to harrass others who are minding their own business, enjoying a building built with public funds upon admittance gained by a ticket

on a side note, i've been to many games in philly .... eagles games are the only ones I wouldn't go to with my team apparel on - sometimes going to/from the sports bar could be dicey

i did see a ton of violence at other events though - phantoms games were very rowdy ..... flyers games not so bad, but stuff does occur there as well

i can't youtube at work, but google tie domi flyers penalty box to see the time a flyers fan jumped from a few rows back to take a flying swing at domi, missed, ended up falling into the box and get worked by domi - classic philly

there was constantly fights at the vet during phillies games - the new stadium is night and day better, but that still hasn't stopped all the shenanigans

David Sale, 22, of Lansdale, was punched and kicked unconscious in a parking lot outside the ballpark early Saturday evening and pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Two Philadelphia men, Jim Grove, 45, of the 800 block of East Almond Street and Charles Bowers, 35, of the 6100 block of Bustleton Avenue, have been charged with the murder. A third suspect, 28-year-old Francis Kirchner of the 1200 block of East Palmer Street, turned himself in to Philadelphia police Monday afternoon.

The confrontation started in McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon, the ever-packed pub attached to the ballpark that serves as the de facto drinking destination for postgame revelers and the ticketless.

Sale was at the ballpark as part of a bachelor party. His alleged attackers came to the Phillies game on a bus with fans from a Fishtown bar.

the vet was pretty bad though and known for not being a very pleasant place to watch a game - i remember the video footage one night of a bunch of drunk kids just brawling in the 700 level - probably about 15 of them - just insanity

the sixers crowds were probably the best and i never saw anything bad go on there ..... probably the worst I encountered was the subway ride back into the city where some guy kept saying "y'all got blown the 'f' out" after the sonics lost by 30 during their amazing patrick ewing days .... that only lasted about 15 minutes or so until he got off the train and everyone else was extra cool to make up for his d'baggery

although on a different night getting off the train pretty late I heard a voice in the distance scream "yo, take of that sonics s&*t in philadelphia"
