See, I absolutely hate this approach. To me, it's "Oh well, this guy at the top of our board is gone, now that guy at the top of our board is gone...heck, five or six of them are gone, but it's okay getting the 6th or 7th guy on our list because we got a 3rd round pick." Stick and pick and take the higher rated player. And if you're telling me they're all tied? A--I don't believe you, and B--It sounds like we should've traded up. We're in the market for instant impact, not depth/belly players/Draft Picks vibes.
Totally agree- this team has plenty of developmental/role players gotten in the 3rd-5th rounds. It is bereft of star players. Trading back for another 3rd hoping this will bring a stud is like hoping to get rich on penny slots

Only way I see a trade down is a team like Cleveland or NYG trading up from their high 2nd rounder. Then we’d trade back up into the late first using the extra assets. Rumor is the Browns wanting to pair Hunter and Shedeur.

Should we talk more about Benjamin Morrison? Just because nobody is. Seems like a solid round 2 option to me.

Phoenix native. Comes from a family of athletes. Ball hawk. Was certainly a top 2 CB and 1st round pick before his injury. Has a workout at Brophy Prep on the 21st.

Ben Morrison at #47 might be better value than Will Johnson at #16.

Was he the CB that made the game sealing pick against PSU?

I'd be happy with this for the 2nd pick. Even a move up into the early 40s would be worth it for me. I'm always a big fan of CBs that love to tackle. He is great at finding the ball too.

Agreed. Unless we're approached about it, and the deal is better than the average, I'd much rather stay put.

Josh Simmons is visiting tomorrow. I still think he is the pick if all his medical testing looks good.

Which begs the question, would he play LT moving Paris to RT?

JOSH SIMMONS OT OHIO STATE NFL DRAFT PROFILE & SCOUTING REPORT

Teams drafting between 15-25 should be sprinting to the podium if the medical checks come back clean. You're getting a day-one starter with Pro Bowl upside who plays with genuine meanness in the run game while showing the feet and anchor to handle NFL edge rushers in protection. The improvement trajectory from San Diego State to his final games at Ohio State points to a player who could develop into one of the league's premier tackles within his first three seasons.

Simmons would be a good pick even if he can't get on the field till mid-season. I am sure they want to get a good look at his injury situation as close to the draft as possible. The one offense pick I would be excited about at #16.

I don't see why you would move your top 10 pick from LT to RT to make space for a guy you drafted 16 and is a rookie.

Nobody is trading back 4 or 5 slots for an extra 4th. It would cost more than that. Only way that happens is if you're getting a 2 back next year.
Per drafttek, their updated trade value chart puts the different of 16 to 20 at 150 pts. That is the value of the 88th pick. A third rounder at best and I agree that the price to move down will generate lower compensation than other years.

Matt Miller says he has 13 first round grades this year, last year he had 20.

One thing he did say that's pretty good advice is that you can't focus on other years, you have to focus on the year in front of you.

I say no to Simmons at 16. Regardless of that scouting report, he doesn’t play with a mean steak. Hes talented but not top 20 talented. Plus, there’s the injury.
Donovan Jackson, who was a guard played LT at a very similar level as Simmons, maybe better.
I’m not taking either at 16 but Jackson is the better player.

Simmons played RT before Ohio.
