Solid take. I will be super miffed if Monti moves back into the mid-20s for, say, a mere 4th round pick. I'm already on record for not wanting to trade down, but this would just be dumb. You can't trade down if there's not a willing partner, and you shouldn't be willing to trade back for just anything.
Ugh, reminds me of the worst trade back in Cards history in 2003: We traded back from #6 to get #17 and #18, but that wasn't all. Oh no. We also traded BACK in the 2nd round (imagine if that had cost us Boldin?), AND gave New Orleans a 4th round pick for the honor of trading back. Not only were the pick swaps idiotic, but we traded out of the area where we could draft what we really needed, and got Skillet Hands and Pace who, though a good player, wasn't a fit for us. Man, the Saints absolutely robbed us in that one.
