I have to ask again, why are people so mad about that pick? It's 3rd and 12 from the 49 yardline of Carolina. I think at best he gets to the 45 or 46 yardline so it's 4th and 8 or 9. We're not going to go for it, we're not kicking a 63 yard FG, so we're almost assuredly going to punt. Even if he decided earlier to take off he's not getting us into anything shorter than maybe 60 or 61 yard FG range.

The problem there IMO is the 2nd down runcall. And he should have audibled out of it when it came in.

Because who was he throwing it to?

He even had a chance to step into it a little bit Russ. And that was the best he could do? With the season on the line?

Because that's scary. Make an excuse K1. Tell me your arm is hurt or something, because that's not an acceptable result.

I couldn't see that I'll have to find a replay

OK found a replay and yes I agree McBride was open, right on the sideline so in his field of view. Horn is in the area but if Kyler puts it right on the sideline either it's a catch or out of bounds no way to get picked.

So I retract my complaint. It still worked out fine for us but yeah he should have thrown it to McBride

After seeing the replay he should have thrown to McBride although he was already over the LOS so would have been a penalty

People are so mad because he had other guys open, INCLUDING WILSON who was behind the defense, and he threw an ATROCIOUS PASS.

Doesn’t matter if he runs out of bounds these guys would be bitching that he didn’t try and force something you have to try and make something happen! Damned either way honestly, and yeah it was effectively a punt since apparently our new punter sucks balls anyway why not….

Was nice watching a Kingsbury coached quarterback who’s also a rookie comeback in finish the last second drive to beat the Eagles today and put together an over overall awesome season…
I’m depressed. I just don’t see a way out of this.
Kyler’s cap hit.
Petzing sucks Does he?
We thought Kings bury sucked. Did he?
Who could we possibly get to replace Kyler?
Is there a Bo Nix available in the middle of round one?
I’m afraid we are in purgatory.

no it was a bad decision because he had Trey in front of him for the first down.

Dortch was running in front of him so he probably can get 3-4 yards there which like I said is not enough I don't buy we're going to kick a 63 yarder at that point in the game. But if he decides earlier run or pass and throws, before he crosses the LOS, the play is there for McBride. The one to Wilson yes Wilson is behind the defense but given it's going to be like 40 yards in the air so it's going to end up the exact jump ball throw we've been criticizing him making for years.

I think as the announcers said he knew he was across the LOS and so he hesitated and then made a crappy throw. Not deciding to throw to McBride earlier is bad I can't see when Trey is actually open because the replay doesn't show him until later but I have to assume he was open early enough.

To me the big problem was the fumble, they scored a TD off that.

Kingsbury was not ready for an NFL head coaching job. At the time, he was the USC Trojans senior offensive analyst. We had no business hiring him as the head coach of an NFL franchise or even an OC. He was way over his head. But who would turn down an HC job in the NFL? No one. I don't blame him. He should have been hired here as a QB coach; he would have gladly taken the job to get into the NFL. We were chasing the next Sean Mcveigh. He took the gig but was in over his head. Now as OC, he has a chance to succeed. Kyler will Kyler.

Lots of blame today across the entire organization, but since this is a KM thread, he will be here in 2025 after that see ya. I’ve watched enough of this guy to know who he is at this point. He could be coached by Bill Walsh and be the same player he is with Petzing.
