I think investing in a player is the same as investing in the stock market. There is a lot of risk. Momentum of an individual stock/player can override historical evidence to the contrary, causing a greedy run up in value. And if you look at a stock and study it long enough, you can convince...
Why did anyone actually think the Cards we entertain a QB this year at 13 when:
1. The QB's in this draft are second-round talents at best
2. The Cards want to win now before their window closes
3. The Cards lost a significant amount on D in Free Agency
4. The Defensive talent in this draft...
This is a good point. He is an immediate upgrade over Minter. Nkemdiche needs to step up and replace Calais. So I am looking to the back end of the Defense in Round 2.
I really wish we could have moved back and acquired a 1st round pick for next year, because it seems like teams overpaid for a QB. It would have been nice to have that kind of ammo going into next year's QB-loaded draft. This year? Those guys will all be out of the League in 5 years.
My guess is they want to protect him from the play that (according to the NFL reasoning) produces the most injuries in the game. Now that teams are likely to pooch kick more, I wonder if they don't want to risk him bringing the ball out.
And I never really see him as punt returner because if...
He is slow for the position. And I did not like his film at all. I never got why he was rated so high, other than a premium put on the position. I thought, maybe, he was appropriate in the 30-40 range, probably the back end of that.
I wanted Foster over Reddick too, by the slimmest margin. Didn't care that he was high maintenance with this locker room. However, if the injury worry is legit, I am happy we went with Reddick.
I'd put the Bears up there too. They gave away way too much to move up 1 spot for a 2nd round talent, especially when they just paid Glennon. Stupid use of resources.
The Browns, even though they salvaged it a bit with acquiring so many assets, really paid the price for talking too much...
