    I get LA, but why MIL over NYY or BOS? We are competing against MIL for the playoffs. Not NYY or BOS. Short sighted IMO.

    How not? DBacks are 12/15 in the NL on offense. Machado (RHB) can platoon with Lamb(LHB) at 3B and be an offensive threat at SS where we are below league avg. He would absolutely improve this club for the playoff push that would happen in the second half of this season.

    So far Swanson($565k) is having a better year than Marte ($1.4M), Ahmed ($1.275M), and Owings ($3.4M). He'd be our best and cheapest MIF option.

    It might be a bad analogy (I don't think it is), but it's not a bad argument. The point being, how does anyone --as a spectator of a sport possibly paying money to watch-- find enjoyment in watching a professional who is worse at a major aspect of their job than most High School Athletes...

    I’ll never understand the joy of seeing someone fail 9 out of 10 times. It’s not why I watch baseball. I don’t want to watch an NBA game where a player shoots 10% from the field either. Even if the coach has to “strategize” more to work around the deficient player.
