    Supposedly

That's simply not true. Curt would agree to a trade to Philly. He's always said that consistently. Arizona or Philly. He would be very happy to be traded to Philly with an extension.

Utley is a 2B. He was moved to 3B because the Phillies had no one to replace Scott Rolen. His defense at 3B is pretty bad. He is a tolerable 2B who hit for good power in the minors. His highest projection is Jeff Kent. I doubt he will be that good, but he is one of our highest rated prospects...

    Good balanced article

Phillies set back their progress a couple of years by trying to be a little competitive and rebuild at the same time when we traded Curt and Scott Rolen. We would be ahead if we had really gotten prospects (though we lucked out with Padilla). I think the Cleveland Indians will have a short...

    Good balanced article

I'm biased. I want to see the D-Backs trade Curt to the Phillies for prospects. Aside from that, I think Joe Jr. has his head up his you know what. Gonzo and RJ got long term expensive contracts, though I would suspect Curt will be more productive than them over the next couple of years...

    MLB Steroid Melodrama

Well I agree that people who want to hate on Bonds will hate on him regardless of what the tests prove out, I don't think it's fair to call people who don't like Bonds "player haters". I don't like Bonds and nobody has ever accused me of being a player hater. In fact I pretty much staunchly...

Schilling willing to give up no trade clause

Here is a nice column from the Philly Inquirer baseball writer, who apparently did an interview with Curt yesterday. Schilling Faces Reality

Webb left off SEVEN writers' ROY ballots!!

Marcus Hayes is an idiot. He never even covered baseball until 2002. He is pretty clueless still about baseball. And he didn't even have the excuse of not seeing Webb, since he pitched twice against the Phillies.

    Yankees want Schilling

Just because he wants to go to Philly doesn't mean he can make it happen. He has always said he wants to finish his career in Philly or Arizona. Arizona has told him bye-bye. He wants to finish in Philly. If Curt leaves the D-Backs won't be any kind of contenders. Curt going to Philly puts us...

    Diamondbacks still want Sexson

I think giving up Oscar Villareal would be a huge mistake. He made the leap from AA to the majors and did an excellent job in the set-up role. I still think he has a future as a starter, and he's cheap for 2 more years. I don't get Joe Jr's strategy. Trade away cheap talent for one year...

    Yankees want Schilling

Right, but that isn't what Curt wants to do. I found his column outrageously self-serving for Boston because Curt has repeatedly said that the only place he really wants to go is Philly and Gammons completely ignores that.

    Yankees want Schilling

Money is the least of his issues and has always been. It's about winning and personal and family comfort. Curt twice had the opportunity to be a free agent and declined, signing contracts a year before free agency at less than the market would have warranted.

Bruney Blows 9th inning, USA team loses

Brian Bruney, future D-Backs closer gave up a home run in the 9th inning to knock Team USA out of the Olympics for next summer. No U.S. baseball team in the Olympics, hard to believe. It was a one game elimination. Stupid rules. Team U.S.A. out of Olympics

Exactly, you don't hear Phillies phans complaining that Thome strikes out too much.

Will the Red Sox follow the Diamondbacks

See DWKB, this just proves my argument with you elsewhere. Your tactic is always to question when anyone else makes a statement and to challenge. It seems like you are trying to make the other person look foolish. It's a lot harder to actually come up with your own position than it is to...

How long before Diamondbacks win World Series # 2

Soon. He has to go low budget for the next 3 years or so to pay off the deferments. But that will just give all those youngsters a chance to grow and develop.

    Scott Hairston

Works for me. Shea does not impress. Maybe somebody else will take him.

    keep schill!

Curt is back in Philly to work on his annual golf tourney for ALS. He's had it for years. He has been interviewed promoting the tournament and naturally they have asked him about coming back. He has consistently said that he wants to stay in Arizona. But he also knows that he will not be...

    Yankees on a mission.

I would suspect that there is a point beyond which good hitting doesn't make up for inadequate defense. Possibly one inadequate defensive player doesn't hurt, but if you have several it may create a problem. There has to be a point at which a player has to hit x much better than major league...

    E-Rod and Dwayne Murphy gone

Nice moves. Bench coach is the messenger/liaison for the manager. I think Robin Yount had the personality and respect that would allow him to deal with the players. E Rod was totally obvious. As for Dwayne Murphy, Zenny must be dancing in the streets. Rick Schu is so funny as a hitting...

    for any aspiring baseball players

Phillies are partaking in a new reality show where the winner gets a shot to make the team. Most of the tryouts and shooting will be in my home town - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, the Phillies AAA team, so I've been following this story. Anyway, Phillies website has more info, including how...

Cubs Push Yanks out of Prime Time!

Well no George can blame the loss on the poor Yankee players making mistakes because they had to play a playoff game in the daylight. Poor guys.

Mantei pitched in pain throughout the year

Yes, but he pitched great after he came back from the DL. So he didn't hurt the team. It depends on the cause of the pain, don't you think?
