    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

It was quite amazing the Suns won two games against Denver, solely on 1-on-1 plays by Book and KD. If KD had been more efficient like he used to be! Monty simply couldn't come up with screens and moves to 1. get AGordon off KD who single-covered him very well; 2. get good open looks when KD got...

    Most exciting offseason ever??

Jemison is tall, strong and fairly quick. He can be useful as a practise body.

Welcome to the Valley: Bol Bol

All the min. signings except for Damion are in to fight for playing time to show their value to the league, in order to get a better pay day next season. With all except top 4 are of the same type contracts, it's a credible promise by the mgmt and coach that there is no favorism and hidden...

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

Agree in principle. I believe with CP3 and Monty gone, Vogel will change game plans around pick and roll with Ayton. Ayton is a good facilitator when going outside to either set picks or catch a pass and hand it to guards. I noticed however that after the pick both CP3 and Book always go around...

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

Compared to the players you listed, DA is only overpaid by about 10-12m/y or 1/3 of his salary. Financial wise, it's not a big deal for the owner.

    The Starting 5

I don't know Oubre's game well as I only returned to Suns fan base two years ago. But he seems to be an athletic lock-down defender, with bad offensive efficiency which comes from being one of the few main off. weapons a bad Hornets/Suns team had to rely on. So, on the current Suns, all he needs...

Welcome to the Suns Toumani Camara

From the way he moves within a team concept, he has excellent court awareness. Paired with his athletism, I see him develop with time into a combination of Nancy Jr., Caleb Martin type of nice rotation player in this league.

Welcome to the Valley: Bol Bol

Bol Bol has potential but failed through several teams already. So it's risky. I guess we'd let the bigs compete for minuts by their court particularly defensive effectiveness. If he matures there, we might have an additional weapon. Otherwise, cut him before playoffs to make room for another...

Suns trade Cam Payne to the Spurs.

I was kinda expecting that Payne was a salary match to trade for desired players. Once the McConnell deal failed, it's logical to trade him away for the TE of 6.5m which is good for all BAE or TME players signed in the league, going forward. And always thought Spurs had a need for Payne time PG...

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

I believe trading for McConnell also gives the Suns a salary of size 9.3m for trade purpose next season. Combined with say Damion's they could get a player in the MLE range.

    Welcome Center Drew Eubanks

The composition of the Suns team dictates that players like Eubanks and Diop have a better chance to get playing time and show case their skills, than competing with mle and high 1st round picks on other teams.

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

Pacers after adding BBrown seem to have no playing time for McConnell, as they also have a promising young guy in Nemhard to develop. Given the trend of the FA market, McC may be min. at most bi-annual player as FA, about the same as Payne; thus no other suitors in sight. Saving cap for next...

    2023-24 Around the NBA Thread

I have a feeling that Biz may sign mid season when we then know whom to cut to make roster spot for him.

    The Starting 5

To be waived on a near minimum contract by a lottery team, this reveals something.
  15. C

    The Starting 5

All we promised would be merit-based competition for playing time. Given all except 5 are equally on 1-year min contracts, it's credible that they all would be given equal chances adapted to their skills and experiences.

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

In true hindsight, JJ screwed up one crucial thing, to trade Crowder for Rui Hachimura. If done, either Saric or Craig would have replaced Jae in the KD deal. And maybe Watanabe would have been included in place of TJ. I believe these minor modification wouldn't have jeopardized the KD deal...

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

We still need a banger at C of someone like Biz or maybe Robin Lopez. And if available, either Eric Gordon or Lowry for min.

    Welcome Keita Bates-Diop

I believe Okogie will start as default. He is really a 1st-team all-D quality defender, well complementary to the big 4 who all need to score. He will take on the best playmaker of the other team, to mitigate Book and Beal's defensive exposure.

    Welcome Chimezie Metu C/PF

I believe Metu and Okogie are from the same country and are teammates on national team.

What is the ideal starting lineup for the Suns

    DA/KD/Okogie/Book/Beal Landale/Biz/Gordon/Payne/Goodwin/StanJohnson/Watanabe/Bazley/Wainright/Todd 2w: Saben/pick-52

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

He is said to need a defined role on a contender, which the Suns definitely can provide as the first off-bench and likely closing out the game with big-4. So, if he is not getting at least 6m/y from another contender team, we got a good chance at him for min.

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

Beal is really a wise person. The team is gonna win it this year.

    Should Ayton be Traded?

DA has some common bad habits that hinder his achieving his potential. He tends to be mentally lazy going through motions very often, when not motivated. That mostly reflects in his rebounding positioning, rotation switches second, and also his fixed-pattern moves in the paint. He is still...

    TRADES

    This, or Zubac/Covington/Powell for DA/Payne

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

Ish is a useful body to keep, as poorman's Jae or Craig. I'd also like Saben given a long term min. deal. He can develop into a better version of Jevon Carter and Payne.
