Sixers get Jimmy Butler for a six-pack of beer and some dirty socks

I'd say it was a win-win deal. Assuming the 76ers get a happy Jimmie Butler and Thibs doesn't get too snarky with either of his new assets. I could see Wiggins losing some PT as a result of the trade, making KAT happier and perhaps Thibs as well.

No doubt a good move, but if Igor was emphasizing don't foul anyone shooting he might not have told them to foul someone who couldn't shoot. They were told to switch but they didn't, they doubled Kyrie instead.

    Celtics @ Suns 11-8-18

They didn't switch, they doubled Kyrie. Normally sensible but at that juncture they didn't need to double, just stay with him at the arc. No fouling during a shot would be correct but a non-shooting foul would have been a good move, as already mentioned. Not hard to imagine a young coach and...

Crappy way to lose, especially with Marcus sticking the dagger in, but I think we have a starting line up which is a big step in the right direction. At least it could be, should be.

    Nets @ Suns 11-6- 18

It's only ten games into the season and of course there's been little continuity but I've never seen such slight team coherence before nor veterans playing so badly, so lazily. I thought Igor was a good choice since he's known as a teacher and with all our youth that should be a good match...

    Father time vs LeBron

The overall team's net rating is significant when you are evaluating individual players. Say the Cavs overall team rating was -10 and LeBron's rating was -2 then he'd be +8 relative to his team. So he's helping hold it up.

What could our unconditional 2019 1st net us in trade?

With Sarver as the managing partner, I imagine they wouldn't last more a month. We are doubly protected from having a GM of that caliber - Sarver wouldn't hire them and they wouldn't work for Sarver. I think the league will have to step in to get rid of Sarver as MP. Hopefully, the top brass...

The 2018-2019 Around the NBA thread

Poop Head, "At the time, I know your reasoning was solid but I still didn't think Markkannen would end up being anything like he was. I thought he might be a good pro but not good enough to go #4. He ended up being all you said he would be though, maybe even a little more." More? Steve...

The 2018-2019 Around the NBA thread

Please no Fultz... the benefit of drafting 4th was that there was little chance that either Fultz or Lonzo would be available - I could imagine McD feeling compelled to take one. Jackson was mainly hype, too, but at least there's hope with him. Too bad we didn't listen to AzSteve and take...

The 2018-2019 Around the NBA thread

Bogdan hasn't played for them yet this year and he was a very good contributor last year. I thought Yogi Ferrel would be a big help for them but he's only had 1 good game. Giles isn't doing much since the real season started and his minutes keep dropping Labissiere is all but out of the...

    Spurs @ Suns 10-31-18

I wanted Fox over Jackson - mainly because he'd given Lonzo fits, I must admit. During the season Fox didn't start out very well so I was glad we'd taken Josh. He's been much better this year and Jackson... I don't need to finish that thought.. To tell the truth Josh's D has been a bit better...

I think that Igor's only HC has been for his national team and you don't have to motivate players when they're on the floor for their country. He's got nothing like that going for him in the NBA. The biggest motivation in the NBA is the players professional pride and Igor probably doesn't...

    Who do you want?

What I want is for all the guys to play up to their talent level (a little allowance for rookies) so we have some idea of how good this team is and what direction to go. I believe Igor needs to go for wins, with Sarver running the show and the GM who hired him gone, he's on shaky ground.

    Who do you want?

I think you can make a case for Igor not jumping around to different line ups. He's been coaching a long time and has established a method that he's found worthwhile in the past. I imagine he finds Ariza's play, for example, as depressing was we do but his method indicates staying with him...

My key mistake was not knowing the definition of Drtg. Thanks guys. So the story is that Ayton's Drtg is poor but his Ortg is great, thus he's a big plus overall.
  19. E

    Josh Jackson

Well, crap! Just crap all around. I could see this team becoming good at defending and, instead we suck big time. Ariza was going to be the linchpin but he's either lost it or is intentionally resting on his laurels. Bridges might still shine but he's struggling to get on the floor so he's...

    Suns fire McD

Well, I'm glad to learn that Igor wanted Harrison over Crawford. Yes, Shaq's D had turned to crap in the preseason but the ability was there, he just needed to be convinced it was his in his best interest to bust his butt defending. The FO is probably worse off for McD's firing, but he was no...

    Lakers @ Suns 10-24-18

I don't follow. The Ortg to Drtg is largest when the Drtg is lowest so how does that show Ayton is doing better than we think on D? I haven't seen the stat so maybe the formula is Drtg divided by Ortg, contrary to what you are saying. Mathematically, the ratio of A to B means A divided by B...

I will mention on another front that Warren shot 40% on 3's the year before last then plummeted to 27% last year. So getting very excited about his four game hot streak now is not wise. Reason for hope, yes. But nothing more.

I agree across the board except about Len over Chandler - by some mysterious means Len would contaminate Ayton. I'd settle for more Holmes and less Chandler. (I know Len played his best ever under Triano but he was still Len!)

    Suns 2018/2019 Season Expectations

What are these new rules and interpretations? I haven't read or heard anything. I read one place that they were going to call screeners more closely this year but watching I see more moving picks than ever - virtually every pick is a moving pick according to the ancient rules whereby your...
