Well I've been listening for 47 minutes and the preview of the show there was mention of - Suns possibly add Center (at least something to that effect). Well the show ends at 1 PM and I can't listen the whole time, keep your eyes and ears open - I'm interested to know who they mention.

They are talking about Steven Hunter. They said they're going to talk about him after his commercial break. They said it's possible if he clears waivers. We will see if they've actually heard anything from the Suns or people associated with the Suns regarding Hunter.

OK. Here it is. Jurecki should really stick to football. He is hearing that the Suns have a lot of interest in bringing him in if Hunter clears waivers (of course he will). That may be true. However Jurecki also said that Hunter would be the starter (not unless he does a lot to impress in camp and preseason). He says that at 240 pounds he's just going to go in there and bang with his size. Uh, last time I checked 240 pounds is pretty small for an NBA center.

BTW Jurecki didn't even know that Hunter never played for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It is possible that Hunter's weight figures are out of date (Marion is listed at 215), but Hunter's stats don't suggest he is a power player. Many of the best shot blockers are really skinny.

Hmm, the Suns' savior in the middle is a player that no one else wants. I think I've heard this one before.

david robinson was listed at 235 for all of his nba career, the dream was listed at 245 (i think).

Here some intresting info I found about Hunter....

Steven Hunter has secured a permanent job in the starting lineup for the Magic.
In Hunter's four starts, he has averaged 6.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. Not great, not bad. His value to Orlando is that he is negating the numbers of better opposing centers. Yao Ming, Michael Olowokandi, Eddy Curry, and Dikembe Mutombo averaged 7.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks going up against Hunter.

Hunter

From what I have read and heard about Hunter is that he has excellent athletic skills but lacks concentration and the ability to listen and carry out instructions.

Maybe getting released will be a wakeup call to him. The Suns would be an ideal fit for him.

They are both from DePaul. Q was drafted in 2000 and Hunter in 2001. They spent the 1999-2000 season together.

Hunter had an OK college career, but he was drafted #15 more on his athleticism than his performance.

If the Suns are waiting to see if Hunter clears waivers, why don't they just claim him themselves?

I would guess it's because they don't have room under the cap to add his salary. Once he clears waivers, the Suns (or anyone else) can sign him for the minimum.

This has nothing to do with the Suns. Or sports really. Can someone explain why 1060 constantly repeats the same horrible commercials over and over and over? Am I the only one that has to turn off the radio during the "En Fuego" commercials?

1060 is a low power station, which means it is hard for them to attract some of the really big advertisers. Smaller firms tend to do one ad and run it all the time rather than create a lot of ads. Creating a variety of good ads requires extra time and effort.

I'm not really convinced that advertisers and the people designing ads listen to sports radio very much. People listen to it differently than other forms of radio and in longer stretches. In advertising, repetition is generally assumed to be a good thing, but without understanding their audience, they lose the fact that eventually listeners start hating the company being advertised.

BTW, my radio program, "The Irish Show", on AM 1190 every Saturday at 4:00 pm does not repeat ads. Of course our sports coverage is mostly only Gaelic football.

From what I understand is that if Hunter is not claimed on waivers after 10 days, he becomes a free agent. If more than two teams claim him on waivers the team with the worst record gets his rights and must fit his current contract into its cap.

I continually review the Blazerblog and Portland also has an interest in signing him as a backup. Phoenix would probably have the upper hand in FA status with the ability to give him more minutes and the association of Q and DePaul.

Does it really take ten days to clear waivers? I thought it was something like 48 hours in the past... I really don't know. Having a link would be nice (in regard to the waiver period).

I join you on that action! They even made it worse with their mush mouth announcer guy interrupting with his "I am so SICK of this commercial..." schtick. The Deuce's promotional guy or gal is the absolute crappiest on radio. En Fuego, Valle Luna, Tony Mara (sp?), etc. etc. are all stupidly written, produced and spoken. Like I said before, the mush mouth announcer guy (next to the En Fuego chick) is horrible.

Remember when Mike and Dan hosted "F This"? That was a good show. My favorite was Femino, Gaytos, Schoney. That was entertaining sports talk at its best IMO.

That was back in the day of Chuck and Vince in the morning on 910. That was the funniest show I've ever heard. I used to hope for traffic in the mornings, so I could listen longer.
