I don't like drafting international players much but this kid does indeed look very promising.

Bismack Biyombo.

Biyombo is an 18 year old 6'9" (and growing) PF/C prospect from the Congo.

He's got a huge wingspan and big time athleticism. Similar to Kevin Seraphin/Serge Ibaka as a prospect.

He's already getting minutes in the Spanish ACB after only 3 years in Spain (highest level outside of the NBA), well, well above any D1 school. He's averaging 6 points/5 rebounds/2.3 blocks per game in only 15 minutes of play against bigger, stronger, more experienced players.

Some highlights:

I would take him with our pick if he were to declare for the draft this season. He's currently projected as a mid-late 1st rd prospect. A high risk high reward type thing. He's a real quick learner & could turn out to be our future PF for us.

Biamack Biyombo 18 years old 6'9 7'7 wingspan. Basically same standing reach as a 7 footer like Darko.

He had 12 points 11 rebounds 10 blocks against the USA highschool team in the hoops summit. Scouts say he moves like a cat and is athletic. Only concern is if 18 is his real age because he looks older and is from Congo. (Lebron, Oden) looked twice their age as well..
Scouts say he is Ben Wallace right now.

Though I guess he will go within the top 5 like Nene did unless the age accusations are true.

This draft might be the strongest international draft ever which is probably why some people say it is going to be weak because they don't know anything about these international players.

Kanter, Biyombo, Valanciunas, Motiejunas, Veseley there you have 5 players already who should definitely go in the lottery. Mirotic also could and who knows what happens to players like Nogueira before the draft when teams see them in workouts.

This player is something like Saer Sene.
Have great body, but no offense skills.

Saer Sene was a skinny 7' center, no idea how you make that comparison...

DraftExpress: Saer Sene couldn't get off the bench for Pepinster, the worst team in Belgium. Bismack Biyombo plays for a playoff team in Spain.

DraftExpress: This is a joke. Bismack Biyombo blocking shots with his elbow now. Who cares how old he is? How high does he go after this?
2011-04-09 11:56:03

DraftExpress: LOL. Measured 6-9 in shoes in Portland. 7-7 wingspan. RT @HoopConsultants: How tall is Biyombo. Sorry too lazy to get up and ask you.
2011-04-10 12:04:55

DraftExpress: RT @HoopConsultants: Bismack Biyombo can be a rugged tough NBA big. Plays too hard & is too committed to defensively not to be an NBA player
2011-04-10 12:03:52

DraftExpress: For those saying Bismack Biyombo is just another Saer Sene, he's been doing this same stuff for a while now in the ACB. Totally different.
2011-04-09 11:43:12

DraftExpress: RT @johnhollinger: I tried to Tweet something but Biyombo blocked it.
2011-04-09 11:36:23

DraftExpress: Bismack Biyombo had zero experience, but came into ACB and immediately led the league in blocks. That's how you know he's something special.
2011-04-09 11:32:58

DraftExpress: Offense is the weakest part of Bismack Biyombo's game, but he's carrying the World Team rw/his play inside the paint. Stock rising big time.
2011-04-09 11:25:11

DraftExpress: Block party at the #NikeHoopSummit. Bismack Biyombo and Anthony Davis are inviting everyone. Both guys finishing around basket powerfully.

Sorry but Biyombo is the next Nene, not the next Sene.

Nobody knew of Nenen a month before the draft but he got in the top 5 or 6. Biyombo's hype is already starting now. He will be projected in the top 5 soon enough..

You remember when I said that soon Mateusz Ponitka will be in draft? he played in this match between US and the rest of the world and he was the best scorer for World Team. What do you think about him?;-)

A defensive type rookie won't rank high in the draft. Second round is likely.

Ahahaha what is the evidence of that?

Where did Thabeet go? Where did Mutombo go? Where did Nene go?

Biyombo is 18 years old, unless there is truth to the age thing he is absolutely a LOCK to go in the lottery and I would like to draft him.

That simply isn't true. I followed the lead-up to that draft much more carefully than usual, because the Suns had a high pick (Stoudemire). Nene's stock climbed quickly once people saw how huge he was, but he was already on the board before that.

If a guy who's 6' 9" and can't score goes in the top five this June, it is a weak draft by definition.

6'9 , very athletic, strong and a 7'7 wingspan and just 18 years old ..

please... he has very good size..

Nene had not much skills when he was drafted and no Nene wasn't on the board any earlier and it was only just before the draft when he first came to the US to prepare for the draft that he moved up the boards.

Biyombo has been at the end of the first round or early second round or 2012 drafts for most of the year.

7'7 wingspan
6'7.75 wo shoes
6'9 with shoes
243lbs
9'3 standing reach
18 years old

For good measure his wingspan is the same as Shaq. 1/2 bigger than Alonzo Mourning.

His body is very similiar to Alonzo Mourning. His standing reach is comparable to Dwight Howard, Greg Oden, Darko Milicic, Andrew Bogut..

How is that not good size for a Power Forward?

And who says he has no offense? His post skills and jumper are probably better than where Amare was at in highschool.

We're talking about different things. You're trying to convince me that he should be in the top five, but my opinion doesn't matter. I don't think that the league front offices are going to see things the way you do -- whether they should or not.

If he can be as good as Ibaka, you have sold me. IMO, no real standouts later in the draft.

Biyombo wont be a lottery pick unless we draft him.

Most other lottery teams have bigger hole to fill than PF.

I would get him only at #13. No way you trade up to get him. I think if he can play with Nash a few years, that could get his confidence up offensively and maybe he will start learning some offensive skills.

Don't kid yourself, he will go in the lottery. He looks like the possibly best big man prospect right now.

I have heard many Golden State fans wanting him so far. Milwaukee is another team that needs a PF. Minnesota is the only lottery team with a very good PF.

can't play defense, does not even try..

Jimmer is a bust or a role player in the NBA.

then i would already remove your avy amare never played any defense and suns frontoffice shitts on defense haha

and jimmer is a crazy pg that would only shine in suns system

Below is a link. I think he will be gone at #13 but maybe the Suns can use that Orlando pick to move up a notch or two... oh, wait, never mind.

On a scale of 1 to 100, Amare played defense in the low 60's. Fredette plays defense in the single digits.

Really? What can he do besides scores at the college level?

He is a very poor mans Stephen Curry.

Can Jimmer even run an offense? I doubt it, he was just a scorer at the college level and got his assists off of his scoring ability.

Lol no there's at least 5 PFs that will go higher than Biyombo.

I like him but I doubt we need to trade up to get him. Best case scenario would be to trade Nash for a mid 1st and something else then draft Burks with our #13 pick and get Biyombo with the mid 1st rd pick.

Sign me up for Biyombo... love his attitude on defense vs offense. I like him being compared to Ben Wallace, but his offense is way better than Ben's ever was - he scores just fine in traffic for one thing. Its true he looks older than 18 but if he is still growing, as claimed, then he can't be more than 21. In any case, he's not 25 yet.

Best case you have an Amare that plays hard on defense and rebounds in traffic. Worst case you have a Shawn Marion who isn't deathly afraid of contact.
