Upton has Hall of Fame talent, yet continues to underperform. Not even sure if Goldy will make it to the all-start break in the bigs... I can see him being sent back down to Reno. Our offense is atrocious.

Offense is suppressed throughout the NL unless you're StL or ATL. Our under performing offense is still better than league average. Our pitching, however, is not doing so hot in this seemingly pitching friendly season.

Good pitching bad hitting looks like MIA, not ARI.

My favorite baseball games of the year. My kids still get a kick out of Arizona playing the Cardinals.

losing 6-0 in the 3rd. Kennedy got rocked by Beltran twice so far. One for a 2 run homer and the other for grand slam.

Ouch.

Beltran is supposed to be hurt all the time. What's going on?

Goldschmidt is really having a sophomore slump. He is striking out way too many times.

I am beginning to feel the same way about Kirk Gibson as I did about Brenly and his protege Melvin.

He doesn't seem to be giving anything a chance to gel offensively. One night you are batting third, the next night sixth. Who is the leadoff hitter? Who is the cleanup hitter?

Despite the injuries to Drew and Young, when you choose a lineup, give it a chance to mesh.

Ballplayers coming to the park not knowing their roles wears out after awhile.

Baseball is not as much a team sport as basketball, but there is still a chemistry that the good teams have. A steady leadoff hitter who lets his teammates see what the pitcher has that night. Your big bopper hitting cleanup. Who is hitting behind whom.

I am not surprised that the D'backs are slipping. As long as Kirk Gibson mimics Bob Brenly and Bob Melvin, it is going to continue. There is a trend here. One Manager of the Year award, then the manager makes himself and his guessing games larger than the needs of the players. Everyone knowing his role, preparing for it and becoming confident in it.

Just got back from tonights game as my 3 sons took me for my BDAY. Great to see Beltran hit a Grand Slam and loved the over all atmosphere for a ballgame. Cards seem to be playing like last season where they were the best team in Baseball up to June and then took a nose dive before rallying for the World Series title. Team has better speed and power than last season. Better pitching also. They are 2nd in the league in hitting and 4th in pitching. If you factor in that they bat a pitcher 3 to 4 times a game they are easily the best team in baseball again at this point just like last season. IF they stay healthy it is going to be another great year. DBacks......not so much. The home team with key injuries need to stay afloat until they get back there missing starters and then battle for a wildcard. Dodgers best in the west this season.

That didn't take long.

really Upton. If his thumb is still bothering him put him on the DL. I could better accept the ineptness that way.

Do you really not see any correlation at all between the chaotic batting orders and the tremendous amount of runners we leave on base and in scoring position?

'Sorry, guys, but I do.

Putz needs to be replaced by Hernandez as the closer.

I have no problem with Putz as the closer, I just cringe when he is placed in a no save opportunity.

Are you serious? Putz has stunk so far this year. Four homers in only 10 innings.

Can someone tell me why Bloomquist is on this team? I would rather see Ransom play.

At this time, Bloomquist is playing better than Roberts, so 3B is where Ransom is primarily playing.

Cody is 36 years old. His hitting is great (the best of his career) but, if he were starting everyday, he would wear down and probably not perform as well.

I know this contradicts my earlier post about going with a set lineup, but it fits my hope of each player knowing his role. If Roberts is going to continue picking up where Young left off up until this season -- hitting every ball high into the air -- playing Ransom often at 3B fits that. Benching Roberts in favor of Cody for groups of games.

We don't leave an extreme amount of RISP compared to other teams. We're at 3.59 per game this season: 18th out of the 30 teams. Of course, teams that get on base more leave more RISP, StL is ranked 27th, ATL 22nd, and HOU 25th. Considering we are second in the NL in PAs w/RISP we're not doing too bad with our Runners Left in Scoring Position.

In a game where failure 7 out of 10 times makes you an all-star, you can't compare performance to some ideal, you've got to compare it to the other teams.

Corbin is dealing tonight against the Giants and maybe Goldschmidt will get it going now that he has finally gone deep for the first time since opening day.
