That hurt too. Not giving Putz a free pass on this. Those 2 walks were killers. Then the last pitch right down the middle OUCH!!!!!! I just hated to see the bullpen give up 5 in the 7th after Cahill left after 6 with a 6-1 lead. Lately this team reminds me of the old Cardinals (football), snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Got back from the Dbacks game.

I was at the game with other companies.

Lot of Dodger fans at the game.

Dbacks should of won this game.

This team currently has the 12th best record in the NL. The entire East division has a better record. If this team was a horse somebody would have shot it by now.

As bad as they are, they're still only 6 games under .500 and basically the same number of games off the wildcard. There's still time to turn it around, but they have to scrap hard for now and play .500 ball while waiting for a couple of guys to get their seasons back on track.

Strange stat: They're 7-14 @ home and 12-11 on the road.

I know this is sacrilege, but why the h-e- double toothpicks aren't they giving Overbay more playing time? He's been on fire...

I'm going to the game tonight (free tix).. hard to get excited about what will probably be another loss. Maybe the boys surprise me for once (not even sure I've watched a single win on TV this year -- seen plenty of losses).

I think they're also trying to give Goldy a chance to work through his slump...

....I think that at times like this, t'would be better to win games than to let a guy work through his slump. Sometimes sitting on the bench because another player is playing better makes a strong incentive to get out of the slump.... Plus, you might win a few extra games, too.....

That's one approach... I have a hunch though that Gibby isn't as freaked out as we are about the current situation and is thinking more longer term, wanting to give Goldy the shot of playing through this slump... In the end, Goldy should be more valuable to us than old man Overbay.

Not sure two weeks of singles and doubles is worth the potential career of a legitimate power-hitting corner fielder. Or, at least that's how I'd look at it. If Goldy fails, he probably goes down to AAAA for life, Overbay gets the interim job, and the D-Backs have to go find a long-term solution at a position they thought was settled.

Okay, winning the west is going to take a huge winning streak but I still think they can contend for one of the two wild card spots. Need to start a winning streak. Hudson is back and hopefully Drew in June. Bauer will probably be called up sometime in June. Maybe these guys can add some energy and life into this team.

We can also count on the annual Dodger IL revolving door. Already have Kemp out for another 8 days.

Upton should get more than 90 feet for every time he gets with a pitch.

This is ridiculous.

Every time I watch Cahill pitch I wonder why the h*ll did Towers trade Parker for him? Gives up 3 runs in the first to the Giants.

This team is just hard to watch
So now Hill and Kubel are our leadoff and #2 hitter for a night (vs. the Giants).

And the two of them, plus Upton, go down whiff-whiff-whiff in the first inning.

This, two days after Gibson announced he would be going with a more set batting order. The D'backs have used different lineups game-to-game more than any other team in Major League baseball this season.

I wonder if Kirk Gibson has attention deficit disorder. His desperation lineups don't A-D-D up to success.

This team is indeed hard to watch. And if we think so, how do you think the players feel?

A key part to management is formulating a plan and giving it a chance. And Bell is back at 3B for a game, after playing a couple, then getting benched. Some chance! How to rip the confidence from a new player.

It is the same story we saw with the two Bob's -- Brenly and Melvin. Manager of the Year went to their heads. It is happening again.
