I wondered why our LF Jason Kubel, who won last night's game with a HR, was back on the bench in Game 3 vs. the Dodgers. I figured there must be a reason.

Then I heard Greg Schulte and Luiz Gonzalez, who meet with D'backs coaches and players to convey info to the fans on TV every game, wonder why our LF Jason Kubel, who won last night's game with a HR, was back on the bench in Game 3 vs. the Dodgers.

If Kubel is still injured, OK. If not, I dunno, is this some sort of reverse psychology?

I wonder if Gibby visits the ASFN Suns board, where many of the posters wanted to see the team tank for a higher draft pick. ;)

As a follow-up, after the game, Gibson said that Kubel was out of the lineup because he wanted "a better defensive outfield and a lineup that was better equipped to run against Beckett".

He benched our leading HR/RBI guy, whose HR was the difference in our victory the night before, because all of a sudden the D'backs are a running team. After 133 games as a win-by-the-homerun-lose-by-the-homerun team.

And the Dodgers out-homered us 2-1, which was the final score.

134 games into the season and he is still trying to find an identity for the D'backs. I have never seen a more indecisive manager. 'Anyone want to guess who our leadoff hitter is going to be today? I wouldn't bet a dollar on trying to guess.

No kidding about the HRs. It is 3-1 in the 4th, Dbacks have 2 HRs and the Doyers have 1.

Can anyone still scratch out a run?

Would be nice to see thyem slam the door today in this game! Up 4-3 now going into the 8th.
After today, we play a stretch that involves 11 of the next 21 games against the Dodgers and Giants. 9 of those against the Giants.

Obviously, a win today is a must to keep us a whopping 9.5 games back as SF already won today.

JJ blows it in the bottom of the 9th... We are now officially TOAST!

Towers will have much to consider between now and opening day next year.

Putz had a nice streak and actually looked pretty dominant at times.
Today he was horrendous.

I'd say this team is officially a disappointment.

Boy has our bullpen sucked the last 3 games. But then again we are a .500 ball club.

Definitely sold low on him.

With the exception of Cahill, our starters have been plenty good enough to pus in position to win.

Saunders is a FA at the end of this season. The Dbacks had to move him. And we haven't suffered as a result. During this most recent skid, our offense and our pen have been far bigger issues than our starting pitching!

So.... now that we are 11.5 games out of first... Now that we've played virtually the entire season with no legit leadoff guy... The team FINALLY calls up Adam Eaton who, during his first 3 full seasons in the minors, has never had less than .409 OBP and this season is currently sitting on an OPB of .456, to go along with a .381 batting average!
In 319 minor league game, he's scored 263 runs!

What in the world have they been waiting for??? And please don't tell me they were waiting for CY to snap out of his career long funk!! :bang:

82. When you are right, you are right! I hate to mention fantasy baseball, but I picked up Eaton during this year for a buck because I saw his production. I knew the DBacks needed a lead off man, but they never brought him up. His biggest knock was his trouble hitting lefties. But he hit .387 against lefties in Reno. I thought the DBacks would trade Young (for whatever they could get) and bring up Eaton a long time ago. He is an excellent line-drive, contact hitter. He also has great speed on the base paths and can play all three outfield positions. We needed to make some tough decisions earlier if we wanted to compete. Too late now, but her's hoping for next year.

Yep... I just can't believe they waited this long to bring up Eaton. I know Brett Butler is very high on Eaton and was supporting his promotion as early as the All-Star break!

Who knows... maybe they were hoping (foolishly of course) that CY would get hot and maybe increase his trade value... I dunno... CY is gonna make $8.5 million next season! He's scheduled to make over $11 million in 2014, however, the Dbacks can buy him out in 2014 for $1.5 million - which, if they haven't been able to dump his arse, they will certainly do...

Would LOVE to see Eaton light it up the rest of the way!!!

With Young injured, it's the perfect opportunity to see the D'backs rookie CF given the chance to play a bunch of games in a row to see what he can do.

Unfortunately, that is not the manager's M.O. If he is sent to the bench in one of the next two games, or dropped to 8th in the batting order, I'm going to :barf: Let's see what happens.

Sad stat of the day.

Paul Goldschmidt leads the team in steals.

Did you see Eaton run the bases? They had to go to commercial break so they could use Blistex on the base paths.
