Buycks ability to penetrate is impressive for Toronto.

I think Onuaku needs to trim down a bit if he hopes to latch on to an NBA club.

I don't have access to the game right now but is Goodwin really shooting 100% from the field? I'm too lazy to go back and calculate out his SL shooting stats but from what i can recall its been pretty good especially his 3pters

I thought he missed one but I could be wrong.

I'd say that is true of many of the players on the roster last year, Morris included. One good game, four bad. Two more good, five more bad. The lack of consistency was probably the number one hallmark of the 2012 team.

Plenty of players would show flashes and have random good games, but the NBA is littered with players who's light flickers on and off, and I can't trust guys like Morris who play well about a third of the time. Maybe his consistency will improve, but as an "older" young player with limited athleticism and size, I just don't see it.

Prove me wrong Markieff, prove me wrong! Would be as happy as anyone if he were a meaningful contributor.

I totally agree with everything you wrote here except be "limited athleticism and size". I read that all the time about Morris and it's just really not accurate. I don't think Morris has ideal power forward athleticism and size. I'd say it's about average for all the power forwards in the league, but "limited" sounds like you think it's below average.

With his skills I would hope that Morris would be a good player off a strong bench, but as you pointed out he's just far too inconsistent. That and his defense is definitely below average. Of course I'm speaking of Markieff.

Oh no, please don't start this. You going to call me a "hata" next? Morris was an awful pick by any standard, and you will find many on the board (including me) advocating the pick of Faried or Leonard (amusingly brought up by you earlier).

It was fairly obvious at the time that they were both superior options, and instead of getting a top young player, we got Morris, an undersized PF with a bad attitude, no defense and who hasn't shown any credible improvement. He could be a perfectly nice guy, but was a terrible pick, especially considering the two player drafted right after him who have proven to be much better.
okay, now Morris is not only undersized, but he has a bad attitude? I'll admit that during the college basketball season I don't get to watch or read about the NBA closely, but that's the first I've ever heard anyone mention Morris having a bad attitude. If I've just missed that please set me straight.

And it obviously wasn't that obvious that Kenneth Faried/Leonard were superior options because Daryl Morey also passed on Leonard to take the other Morris twin and a bunch of teams passed on Faried to take players who haven't amounted to much. I know you are a better scout then all of these other teams have working for them, but I still wouldn't call it "obvious".

I would say your standards are a little high for a #13 draft pick in an average draft. I mean they certainly passed on better players, but guess what. So do three quarters of the teams every single draft. I would call Marshall a terrible pick. Morris was just the wrong pick.

Archie Goodwin with 20 pts on 5 FG attempts. Are you entertained?

Marshall is pretty bad against a set defense. He walks the ball up and immediately looks to pass it off. He doesn't even think of probing the defense and he isn't part of the pick-n-roll.

I swear I saw him miss a shot earlier. Maybe he ended up shooting free throws and the shot didn't count, I'll have to watch for it if I decide to see this game again (I'm bored so I might).

Not that it was necessary but today should have ended the idea that Marshall belongs on our roster. There were fifteen players out there that were clearly better than him.

No hops, no speed, no penetration unless the sea parts.

I think Toronto has found a late bloomer in Dwight Buycks. His ability to penetrate is special.

I'm a little disappointed in Tucker's shooting ability. I thought he woul have developed a decent 3pt shot by now.

That game by Archie makes you think. It looks like one of those growing moments. I am starting to believe that this kid could be special--especially if that shooting continues to be good.

Yada, yada, yada.

The both of you could be watching Archie Goodwin. ;)

Ha, agreed. He's been awesome. I love how every time he gets the ball he drives to the rim and can get fouled, something we've been missing. The fact that he's 18 makes it even more exciting. I hope he gets plenty of minutes this year.

Will be interesting to see if Christmas gets a chance, he's a streaky shooter but can really score off the bench.

It also shows how little value Marshall has. Toronto signed him for 2 years for 758K per year. Marshall will make 2 mil this year alone.

Agreed. Just shows what a bad pick can cost.

Yeah, 20 points on 5 shots today. I'd say that's pretty good.
