I am starting to think that throwing money at Greg Monroe would not be the worst thing we could do this offseason.

Plumlee/Len
Monroe/Morris
??/Morris
Dragic/Goodwin
Bledsoe/??

+ #17 Washington
+ #14 or #20 Suns
+ #27-28 Indiana

Monroe is not the quickest and his range not up to the 3 point line but he could slide over to the 5 spot and play with Markieff I think.

Assuming that Frye opts out of his last year and Tucker will demand at the minimum the full MLE.

Chris Bosh or Rudy Gay could be interesting options as well.

Also maybe not the most exciting names, but Jordon Hill and Spencer Hawes could address some of the Suns most glaring needs and they are unrestricted free agents. Then the Suns could draft BPA. I never was a Hawes fan but he could vastly improve the Suns at center.

They probably like him in Cleveland right now but he's been the whipping boy at each of his previous stops for good reason. He'd be an upgrade at the center position but it won't be by much and it probably won't be for long. He's more of a tease than anything IMO.

I'd rather we set our sights a little higher than a free agent whose closest NBA comparison is probably Channing Frye. I still think Plumlee and Len have tremendous potential but if I were to add a center, it would be someone that could actually defend his position. Hill, if he comes at a reasonable price seems like he'd be a great choice for a rotational big. Myself though, I'd probably look to the draft for our next big man addition. If we're keeping Tucker we probably need another stretch four but if he's moving on I think we should target a more traditional style power forward.

What the Suns need is a center that can block shots, rebound, and score consistently from 10 feet in. IOW, they need Alex Len to develop.

Then all they need is a star level player either at the pf or sf position. Depth is fine. They have five picks, young tradeable players, and cap space. This is doable.

I like Monroe as well, plus he's a younger player with some upside still. Rudy has always been a mystery to me...all the talent in the world but his teams don't win

Not sure why Frye would opt out. I guess maybe he'd go for a longer term contract for security but he clearly likes playing with this group and he probably wants to stick around for at least one more.

I agree about Tucker though, he's due for a raise.

No, he couldn't.

He is basically the same player as Frye is with a bit more mobility and (even) less fundamentals regarding defense, rebounding and post-up play.

If Frye opts out and we won't be able to trade for Love, I wouldn't mind Jordan Hill for a few millions per year as a backup bigman.

I do not think that Monroe is that kind and caliber of player that the Suns should break the bank for.

Neither is Rudy Gay.

My primary target would be Gordon Hayward especially for a (more or less) fair price and if we somehow could get Kevin Love even if at the expense of Bledsoe.

Hawes is young (25), tall and a better version of Frye with room for improvement. My thoughts on Hawes, he would always be tradeable commodity if not over payed and would buy time for Plumlee and Len to develop. Hawes may prove to be a better center than both anyway. He is having his best season with Cleveland and is averaging 14.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Again he is a unrestricted free agent.

I definitely would not break the bank on Hayward. I'd definitely try to get Kevin Love as long as it does not bankrupt the Suns future and he signs an extension.

I just don't see in which areas exactly he is better than Frye.

My thoughts on Hawes, he would always be tradeable commodity

His recent months with the Sixers just proved otherwise.

Now he again puts up meaningless stats for a weak team while at the same time he is is well-known for his non-existing defense.

IMO. It depends on what the Suns are looking for. Hawes is the better rebounder and takes more shots on the inside. What is interesting is that Hawes takes double the shots inside versus Frye yet they have a comparable FG%. Statistically (defensive per) Frye is the better defender at the Center position. He also opens up the lane by drawing his man out because he can shoot the 3.

I like the fact that Hawes is going to take higher percentage shots and work from the inside and that he gets you more rebounds but it's disappointing he is not a better defender. IMO he won't get much better. If the Suns are going to change their identity and become more defensive minded, Hawes might not be the better choice unless they are strong at the other positions defensively. If your good at the 3 & 4 you could probably get by with him because he is going to get you more boards.

He is younger than Frye and more of a center. If he is left open, he is lethal from 3 point range. Frye seems to more of a streaky shooter. Hawes is taller than Frye as mentioned either 7' or 7'1" depending on the measurements. Also he seems to be a better rebounder than Frye. Also Frye has reached his ceiling. Hawes may still get better. Quality centers are hard to come by in the NBA. His being an UFA makes him attractive. He can start while Plumlee and Len develop. Look at the stats for the Suns production at center... not much there.

I really dont think there are any FA we can sign that make this team any better next year, we have a young team sign them to extensions let them grow together and add through the draft. Neither Monroe, Hawes, or Hayward get this team to a championship so why spend the money on someone that gets us 2 maybe 3 more regular season wins. I just dont see it.

No doubt Hawes needs to play beside a quality PF. The chance to get him in free agency is what makes him attractive if the price is right. The Suns need to shore up the center and PF positions. If I could get a quality PF in free agency that could play a little center, then that would be the direction I would go. I guess it really comes down to how the Suns plan to address their glaring weakness at the center and PF position.

Hawes is terrible defensively, I would not want to sit Len or Plumlee for him.

The only thing I do not like about Monroe is that he does not get blocks. He does not protect the rim despite his size.

In your sleeper picks, Jahii Carson played for Arizona State not Arizona slinslin.

We'll probably do a major upgrade with a trade involving our picks, the upcoming free agent class is weak and not worth the $ they'll get from worse teams.

I think you are right. There is no way the Suns would want to bring a potential six rookies (first round picks) on board over the next two seasons.

I'd be interested in Jordan Hill. He has enough upside to breakout and can really rebound, at 26 y/o. Greg Monroe can score better and is better passer; though I worry about athleticism, shot blocking, and pick n roll defense.

Adding a younger PF/C (via Trade/Free Agency) that can score in paint and hopefully rebound/defend would give the Suns enough depth to possibly keep all 3 Picks.

With Plumlee, Len, Hill (FA example), Frye (possibly), Markieff, Marcus, Tucker, Green, Goodwin, Dragic, Bledsoe and possibly Smith - the Suns would be deep enough to add several Picks. With Dragic and Bledsoe as stars: an athlete that can make leap as Plumlee, Markieff, Marcus, Tucker, and especially Green have. The Suns could let Len, Goodwin, and 1 to 3 Rookies (with upside) develop and grow as 5 players mentioned have.

I expected Dragic/Bledsoe to be star unit and now I'm leaning to F/C (room for growth) this year lol. From star Millsap to J Hill, T Gibson, E Kanter, A Johnson, Ma. Plumlee, M Leonard, A-F Aminu, etc. all have defensive potential, rebound ability, and can finish. Deng as vet could be option.

The Suns would really have-to hit their Draft Picks but that's where McDonough looks solid. As many lopsided Trades favored the Suns, Teams may be reluctant Trading star player Heh.

I agree with this take but I have a feeling we are going to make a strong move to get Hayward from Utah. Utah can match any offer so it will be up to Hayward forcing his way out in a sign and trade. If he does hopefully we will not give up the farm.

I am not sure how much better we will be with him but I expect both Horancek and McDonough would love to have him on this team.

In addition to improved rebounding and defense this team could use another playmaker badly. That is where Hayward should fit nicely.

This should be an interesting off season.

I'd rather have a role player like Jordon Hill at FC that Hayward.

I don't know how I feel about Hayward, he hasn't been all that impressive when I've watched him and rumors are he's after a huge payday. I guess I'd be fine with it given that it's a safe bet that Jeff will have had a lot of input on that decision. He certainly knows Gordon's game a lot better than I do. I think it would signal the end for either Tucker or Green if not both of them unless we really do end up parting ways with Bledsoe (or even Goran).
