I think you misread the rumor.

Yeah, but not. I couldn't remember the other team though but it was stated that Wade's agent was working on a deal with Denver or Milwaukee that would result in a mid December trade. I don't know if it was fanboy wishful thinking or a legitimate sports journalist (is there such a thing anymore) but I couldn't help wondering how something like that could be arranged and still be within the rules. So, we'll call it rosterbation by a Cavs fan.

I really don't know what other teams are supposed to do. Is the entire season a waste of time if you don't think you can make the Finals? That seems really cynical, even though a lot of fans probably feel that way. I like the idea of a team like the Bulls or Clippers trying to do whatever they can, even though their ceiling is limited. The league is about entertainment, and if you can't find any satisfaction in performing well during the 82 games of a regular season, you're in the wrong business.
