It is almost "this time of the year" again.

Time to fantasize about what this team could do and after this season I would think that some drastic changes are in store and anything could happen.
Hey dreaming is better than watching most of the remaining Suns losses.

Bledsoe and Bullock to the Kings for Landry, Stauskas, #6
Stauskas and Cavs 2016 pick for Noah Vonleh to Charlotte
Morris Twins, Tucker, #13 for Frye, Ridnour and #5
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ojghozo

#5 D'Angelo Russell, give up a future pick to move from #5 to #4 or #3 if needed
#6 Mario Hezonja
#43 center project

FA sign Chase Buddinger.

Roster
Len/Wright/#43
Vonleh/Landry/Frye
Warren/Buddinger/Granger
Goodwin/Hezonja/Bogdanovic
Knight/Russell/Ridnour

Youth: Len, Warren, Goodwin, Hezonja, Russell, Bogdanovic, Vonleh, Knight
Veteran Leaders: Frye, Landry, Granger, Ridnour

Roster might still be too crowded with not enough playing time going around but at least it is balanced with three complete 5 man units. Knight would eventually have to be traded because Russell and Hezonja would be the face of the franchise.
Might be better to sign and trade Knight immediately and get picks in return so that Russell can start from day one, sign a veteran role player PG in free agency.

Hezonja is kind of a luxury over the top though. But I have lost some faith in Goodwin, I think it is doubtful that he ever will be good enough as a shooter.

And fill out the bench with some good veterans and leadership. I could accept that and look forward to the future even if we suck in the short term. I'd be very happy if we can add Russell/+either of Goodwin,Bogdanovic, Hezonja over Bledsoe/Knight and Vonleh/Warren over Morris/Morris/Tucker.

If the Lakers win the lottery and Minnesota and Kings are next..

Lakers -> Towns, Randle, X, Kobe, Clarkson
Minnesota -> Okafor, Dieng, Wiggins, Martin, Rubio
Kings -> Cousins, Landry, Gay, McLemore, Russell

Then the Suns are done for years to come, not to mention Utah picking right in front of the Suns and having way more potential on the roster already.

We will be last in the West again.

Just a random thought. Would the Magic give the Suns something of value or trade to take on Channing Frye's contract. I don't think he has worked out as expected for the Magic. The Suns need a stretch 4/5 and someone to stabilize their roster.

I wish the Suns could keep Gerald Green because the Suns need scoring but I guess he will be gone. The flap between Hornacek and his agent didn't help.

I recently sent a personal email to Steve because he hasn't posted in awhile, asking if everything is OK.

He said that he hasn't been on his computer for awhile. Some pain issues and trying to watch every NCAA tournament game in addition to the Suns games.

So he'll have to catch up on the Channing Frye comments when he returns. He and I have also been at odds about Frye.

Imagine if he had been playing Center or Power Forward when we were starting 3 Point Guards. With Frye planted out at the 3-point line, that would have been four Guards and an undersized Power Forward.

When he comes back I'm sure he will be loaded for bear.

The Suns could have used a shooter in Frye to spread the floor and help calm the team down. The later being the most important. Also the Suns needed another big man. The problem is still Frye's salary unless the Magic could make it worthwhile to trade for him. Frye's situation with the Magic reminds me of Turoglu's situation with the Suns. They just don't fit.

I can imagine that. We would have had a much better record. I don't know why you have so much trouble understanding that Frye was an offensive asset. Give me the three point guards, Channing Frye and Alex Len all day. You want to complain about Channing Frye's lack of rebounding I can totally understand that. I understand saying he's not a very good defender. I would say he's average. I just don't understand complaining about him on offense. Goran Dragic sure missed the hell out of him.

That was my thought. Not really interested in Frye or his contract but maybe Orlando would trade from #5 to #13 by swapping Frye and Ridnour for the Morris twins and Tucker.

I'd need to see that we can get Russell or Mudiay with that pick though and cut ties with Bledsoe and Knight.

It sounds like you're saying you'll take three Point Guards, Channing Frye and Alex Len all day . . . except when we need rebounding and defense in the post. Which is all the time.

That would put a lot of pressure on whoever is playing Center or Power Forward next to Frye. It would destroy Len, even if he could overcome his frail health and foul problems.

Joe, do you really believe that is a formula for success in the NBA?

I see it as another combination of what our Suns have become -- a novelty act in the world's greatest basketball league.

It demeans Suns fans and it demeans the Valley of the Sun.

I know I am not the only ASFN poster who feels that way.

Lol right?
Unless those three PG's are Magic Johnson, John Stockton and Jason Kidd, that lineup would get exposed and buried so quickly even by an average team.

Channing might not be a great rebounder but he sure did open up the offense due to him stretching out the opponent's defense to guard him on the perimeter. Another factor being overlooked is his character. Channing is not a headcase or a cancer in the locker room. He is a good to have around, especially with the young guys.

Swapping assets seem the way to go because the Magic do not want to look bad for signing Frye in free agency. Maybe a three team trade can be worked out where everyone gets something.

I'd really like for the Suns to get another first round pick in this draft... somehow, someway.

We always hope this but it rarely ever happens.

A guy that I would reallly like to see us go after assuming we end the 2 PG crap is Danny Green.

He's a veteran player something that Hornacek wanted. Also a very good defender and a very good shooter. He's strictly a 3 & D player but he's maybe the best one at it.

It may take some overpaying to snatch him away from SAS but I think it'd be worth it.
