Russell Westbrook: Was thanking trainer's daughter, not Kyrie Irving
A video of Westbrook sprinting into the team's tunnel toward the locker room was posted to Twitter by the Thunder's official account, and as he made his way off the court he yelled a "thank you" to someone. The video spread on Twitter, with many believing Westbrook was shouting thank you to Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving, who hit a game-winning jumper with 3.4 seconds left to defeat former teammate Kevin Durant and his Golden State Warriors.

Westbrook, though, attempted to clarify and said he was thanking Jayme Sharpe, the daughter of Thunder trainer Joe Sharpe. Jayme can be seen sitting baseline in the video, right in front of where Westbrook took the shot.

Parity in the EC. Seven teams in the middle of pack - slots 6-12 - are clumped between 8.5 and 9.5 game back.

Trade rumble: Houston has made no secret of its desire to add a big man and the Kings' Kosta Koufos, I'm told, has emerged as a prime target

Koufos is a perfect fit for the Rockets. He can shoot well plus he is a decent rebounder. Actually I think the Rockets make him a better player and he helps the Rockets.

This is what Marc Stein, ESPN Senior Writer, wrote today. Maybe it's all conjecture or perhaps he knows something more.

‎... The latest signals continue to suggest that Suns guard Brandon Knight will be one of the bigger names to move between now and the Feb. 23 trade deadline. Knight played only nine minutes in the Suns' home win Thursday night over Toronto, less than 20-year-old rookie Tyler Ulis.

Donatas Motiejunas lost over $30 million by reportedly signing with Pelicans
It may have taken until 2017, but free-agent big man Dontas Motiejunas has finally found a new team.

According to The Vertical's Shams Charania, Montiejunas will sign a one-year, $1.5 million veteran's-minimum deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. As he did with the Rockets, Montiejunas will provide New Orleans an interior presence on both ends of the court. He is a solid defender and strong post player. The Pelicans can play him alongside Anthony Davis instead of Alexis Ajinca and/or the always disappointing Omer Asik

After playing hardball with Houston all summer and into the season, Motiejunas signed a four-year offer sheet reportedly worth $37 million with the Nets in early December, which the Rockets matched. But the Rockets took out some incentives when they matched Brooklyn's offer and offered Motiejunas a four-year, $31 million deal.

Can someone explain this? I thought that the rule was, if a RFA's original team matches the offer sheet, then it's the identical offer. I've never heard of a team matching the offer with modifications. How do you "match" $37 million with $31 million?

My guess is that matching an offer means matching the fixed part of the contract but not necessarily any bonuses that might be in the contract. I don't know anything, it is strictly a guess.
