Jesus... FOR WHAT PURPOSE DO WE SIGN MILSAP, EVEN FOR ONE OR TWO YEARS?!

To maybe get us an 8 seed and not get a good enough look at Chriss/Bender so that when they're contract extensions come up, we're flying blind there?

I swear, I can not understand signing Milsap for any reason other than being impetuous.

Millsap makes more sense than Griffin, he's healthier, more of a team player, less personal baggage, and by the time he's slowing down Chriss should be able to take over. He's rumored as someone the Suns want to bring in, I'm not 100% sold on it but if we do sign him, I'm ok with it.

If we're going to spend the money, I'd rather it be on Millsap than Griffin. Griffin isn't an option, which is great IMO, but Millsap isn't a bad move to try and get this team to start improving now. He could help us make the playoffs this year, he might not, but he'd help us improve and the young guys need to start winning. No magic switch is going to go off where they'll just turn it on. Look at Minnesota, they've been together for 3 years and they haven't improved much at all. They went out and got Butler to hopefully help them over the hump and get them into the playoffs. They have a better coach and better youth than Phoenix. They weren't going anywhere though with what they had so they had to gamble on Butler helping them take the next step.

Teams rarely take the next step on their own, it usually takes someone being added to get them their. PG and PF are two needs, PF much more than PG right now since Bledsoe is at a top 10 PG in the league, closer to 10. Chriss isn't a starting caliber NBA PF right now and we don't have a legit starter at PF on our roster. Bringing in Millsap for him to learn from should only help him. Millsap has made the last 4 All Star teams, and should help him develop better than getting outmatched in games and playing against the likes of Bender, Dudley, Williams, and Chandler in practice.

There have been 2 deals so far with incentives playing a role. Tony Snell's deal with the Bucks includes 4 million in incentives, it's 4 years and $44 million but could get up to $46-48 million in total. I've seen both numbers mentioned as the peak with the incentives.

Jrue Holiday's deal is $126 million over 5 years with incentives that could bring it up to $150 over 5. That is the highest amount of incentives I've seen in an NBA deal. I wonder how that counts against the cap, annually.

Holiday is way overpaid.

In the future, some of these teams who over-spend will be begging to get out of these contracts or casting off good players and assets.

I want the Suns to reap the benefits.

If the Celtics do not land Hayward, wow.

They had all the assets in the world to make moves.

For who? One year of Paul George? No way you can make that deal for a rental.

Butler maybe...

Reports were they tried getting George at last year's trade deadline for 3 first rounders and Crowder. They didn't want to include the Brooklyn pick from this last draft though. I can see them being reluctant to include multiple picks when one of them had a very high chance of being #1 overall but they should have found a way to make that work.

I didn't buy that report. Woj just said Boston never made a "real" offer for George. I think Boston is rebuilding and just overachieved last year. Stevens seems like a great young coach and heavy into player development with young guys.

The point I'm making, the Celtics had all the assets in the world to make a major splash.

If they can't pull it off, it says something about the player controlled market. An adjustment will need to be made.

However, the evolving adjustment may be teams overspending and being cash strapped.

Look at all the contracts that have become burdens already. Mozgov, Noah, etc.

Exactly. A lot of these high paid players will need to be unloaded. The Suns can help make it happen... for a price.

Rockets looking like a truly great squad but they won't even reach the finals. I'd love to see the playoffs go 1-16 with a Rockets/Cavs semifinal.

That is a really good signing for the Rockets. I hate the Rockets, but I am happy PJ got a nice contract.
I don't think it's all that great. We paid Dudley more than that. That's a bargain price for Houston. But you were just probably trying to make a nice comment about PJ. so pardon me. Not trying argue.
