I will probably be posting almost exlusively on this thread from here on out. Everything else is just too depressing. I enjoy basketball, and I choose to enjoy whatever I can at the moment. Its a lemons, lemonade thing.

So, I think it is going to be almost certain that the Suns end up with a top 3 pick this year. The tank is on full force, and if its happening, go ahead and lose to everyone, including the Sixers and Lakers. Just do it for one year only.

We are tanking, and not by accident. If we are, there are players beyond Simmons that McD is interested in in this draft.

Sarver should come out and just say it. "We have a key injury in Eric right now, and we know Markieff is not happy here. We will try to make the best of this situation. We have some young players that have huge NBA potential and we are going to take this moment help then develop into the stars we know they can be. We ask our fans to support us in the short term while we keep our eyes on the big prize for the future. Lets build this thing together."

I have been watching some video of Dragan Bender. Game changer IMO. 7 footer. Plays like a wing, but is also physical. Forces contact. Shoots from the 3. Rebounds and blocks shots.

Top-three lottery seed, quite possibly, but that's a long way from guaranteeing a top-three pick.

The #1 lottery seed as a 64% chance of winning a top-three pick.
#2 seed, 56%.
#3 seed, 47%.
#4 seed, 38%.

No matter how bad the Suns are, they'll still need to get lucky. And we know how that goes.

OK. I am seeing a top 2 lottery seed and almost a guarantee of a top 4 pick. Is that better? You ar funny. All about the numbers and then treat it as almost a statistical certainty that the Suns will be unlucky.

Bender is a high risk-high reward player.

He can become a taller version of Andrei Kirilenko which is quite scary considering that the prime Kirilenko himself was scary enough.

At the same time Bender might become the next Jan Vesely as well.

Hell of a game tonight.. doesn't seem to be an uber prospect though (late lotto/mid first range?)

I'll admit I knew nothing about him before tonight. I was reading up on top prospects right as the game kicked off. I will certainly pay attention now that football is winding down.

Athletic, long, positionless player and not in a good meaning of the word.

I don't really see the NBA skill in him, although it is not out of question that he can improve his shooting since his J looks good despite the fact he rarely uses it.

He looks like Jared Cunningham to me, which is not bad at the end of the 1st round.

I don't think there's any doubt that he's the star of this class but comparing his stats thus far to full season stats of earlier stars is a wasted effort IMO. Most of the stars played in major college conferences and faced much tougher conference competition than they did in preseason. Right now, his numbers are likely inflated by having played the 229th toughest schedule.

You missed the point apparently. It will be more releveant to measure his full season stats against the full season stats of other players or just use the the pre-conference numbers for all the players. As I said, he's clearly the class of this class but I'm not ready just yet to put him above Davis, Durant, Cousins, Wall, Love, Kyrie etc. even though the numbers suggest it.

Hopefully he does well, or this will be a pretty bad draft class.

I can't imagine he won't be a star in the NBA. He needs to add a few things to his game but he just does so many things so well. But I remember watching Rudy Gay play a couple times in college and I was telling everyone how he'd be the greatest player ever. I guess it could still happen but I've stopped holding my breath.

Simmons and Ingram = studs

Plz get a top-2 pick...

I also like Bender. He is 7-1 and plays like a 3. He is not as big as Porzingis, but he is more fluid. But I agree with you about Ingram. Stud. 6-9 guard.

eh?

Bender has shown next to nothing in pro play. His euroleague performance was bad. His shooting percentages are not good, he does not rebound well and he is as skinny as possible..

All his hype that makes him a potential top draft pick is based on youth play years ago. Even in the Israeli league he plays just 12 minutes per game and is not much of a contributor (5ppg 1rpg)

He plays more like Jan Vesely. He is a super risky pick.
Based on Porziginis surprising success he is probably the #3 pick but that is super high risk.

Givony thinks it will not be clear whether Simmons or Ingram is the #1 pick.

This kind of reminds me of the Oden / Durant debate. Oden was the consensus #1 pick that year but Durant presented a solid case being the NPOY. Obviously it worked out better for OKC as Oden couldn't stay healthy.

Durant and Ingram have a lot of similarities but unlike Oden who was the type of franchise C teams covet, Simmons is a combo forward with exceptional skills. He and Ingram are versatile enough to play multiple positions, Simmons numbers are just more impressive.
