Yeah, that's what we normally call a "hiring" but I guess you can call it a signing if you want to.

If Crawford is hired as a coach it doesn't count as a player signing. The NBA doesn't allow this anymore.

As if him being personally at our arena isnt a clear signal that we are signing him...

Do you know how many times I've been at that arena and left without a contract? Too many to count. I'm not the only one either. I would bet that 70% of the board has been there and left without contracts also. Being there doesn't mean all that much and isn't an indication he's signing. Budenholzer was here also, when did he sign?

He's not signing as a player. We are already over the roster limit. There is no room for him and he doesn't fill a need. You really want to spin it that he's being hired as a coach now? That's ridiculous.

I brought up Crawford in June. He is most importantly a great teammate and another veteran. Everything he gives us on the court is a bonus.

Why mention him as a TEAMMATE and his on court contributions if he's hired as a coach? You jumped the gun making a claim that was false but refuse to admit that it was. At this point it's comical how you're desperately trying to justify your original claim but the excuses you've thrown out are all contradictory to the original post. Why do you have such a hard time saying you were wrong?

SO just to throw this out there, did the NBA rule on our injury exemption yet? I am assuming once that happens that player hits waivers or becomes a free agent. Would that not qualify as a roster move? Or do we need a player moved on top of that?

We have 16 players under contract, Arthur won't count if we're granted the disabled player exception but with him we're at 17 plus King as a Two-Way contract. We have 1 Two-Way deal left and I think whoever is cut will probably be brought back on that.

A player can be inactive for as little as one game. Players sent to the NBA Development League will continue to count on a team's inactive list. While individual teams must carry a minimum of 13 (12 active plus one inactive) players, the NBA guarantees a league-wide average of at least 14 players per team.

A team may have a maximum of 15 players on its active roster, and at least eight active players must suit up for every game.

So it appears we would have to make a roster move to add a PG.

I know Igor said guys would be rotated in the preseason to evaluate them at the PG. He said not to read too much in who starts, etc. However, just to guess, it seems a little more Cannan at the end, and not so much Harrison. I agree with everyone it seems they want to keep the rookies. Both have flashed nice plays, but consistency you would have to worry about. That said, I do like the arc on Okobo's shot. I think he could be a good Barbosa come off the bench and score on second teamers kind of guy when we need offense.

We presently have 18 players on our list.

King is a two way player. (17)
Arthur will be waived or we will get the disabled player exception (16)

So one more player will have to come off of the roster.

Canaan. Most likely, non-guaranteed contract.
Bender. Outside chance. If they decide not to pick up his option, he is done here anyway.
Melton and Okobo. Both have multi-year deals. It does not make sense to cut them.
Daniels. 1 year deal. But his shooting is a help.

Other options.

Buy out Chandler. TC might take a pay cut, say $10 mill buyout and go play for a contender.

Harrison is a possibility as well, with a slight chance at Reed.

Here's a theory...

Maybe the Suns see Crawford as a guy who can do what Canaan can do, as well as what Daniels can do. So you add him and move on from them.

They’re just grabbing at straws. They don’t know what the hell they’re doing.

I doubt if anyone is looking at the Suns roster waiting for cuts whereas the Suns are glued to other teams waiting for cuts. This says it all.

I think Chandler and Daniels are the only possible cuts who would find a home elsewhere pretty soon. They are probably least likely to be cut also. Harrison, Reed, and Canaan are more likely to be shown the door. I could see a trade made that involves Daniels. His salary is small enough that there should be a few teams that could take it on.

I think Daniels could be traded for a 2nd round pick. Every team needs shooters not that the Suns don't. Crawford could fill that hole.

Not even a rumor. Just some Atlanta fan writing nonsense.
I just post them as I see them. Is it a legitimate rumor? I doubt it but I wouldnt be surprised at this point knowing who runs our team now. But if anything, it adds to the discussion on this board.

I think trading for Lin is fair game. The Hawks do have Trae Young. However, a lot of it is fans throwing mud against the wall.

He played 1 game last year after rupturing his patella tendon. I think Id stay clear of trading for a player with injury issues even though he claims he's fully recovered.

That's good enough for me. Bosh also claims he's clear so we can sign him and solve our power forward problem too.

I have not been following Lin but worse case scenario he is an expiring contract. The Suns should consider every point guard if the price is right.

So Devin Booker coming off a significant hand injury is our starting PG? It’s going to be a tough year which I’m fine with. Still holding out hope for Mount Zion.

Can Lin actually play? Would that be odd. Atlanta gets Len from us. We get Lin from them.
