Is it slightly worrying that this injury may be worse than they initially let on? Sure. especially considering it happened during a run test. But I think this is nothing more than the team being extra cautious with any injury that can re occur without the taking the time to let it fully heal.Yeah, this is a disaster waiting to happen, or is a disaster that's already happening. Dude has to take freaking practice snaps at the very least. Up until now, it's been a wink-wink "eh, it's a veteran thing" kind of situation. It's fast becoming a "he's actually hurt so this may be a disaster signing before he even gets to play a snap, if he ever does" kind of situation. Not saying I'm going to go full-on chicken little about it, but this is NOT inspiring confidence. Nor is this laid back "it's cool, bro, if everyone's hurt" vibe.
Just based on what the team has said and from the visual clues, it looks like it's something like a soft tissue injury. A strain of some sorts. Strains aren't severe injuries, but strains can lead to more extensive injuries. It looks like the Cardinals are just trying to be really cautious. Is it slightly worrying that this injury may be worse than they initially let on? Surprised about Ward. Thought he'd be a practice squad guy.

yesI'd have no issue with him not participating in camp at all as long as he is 100% fit for the season opener. JJ knows this scheme. He's forgot more than most of our D line knows. It's not like he needs the practice to know the scheme.
I think it's a situation where they think he could make a roster and are giving him a chance to catch on somewhere else.Surprised about Ward. Thought he'd be a practice squad guy.
I'm not freaking out about it yet. There is still quite a bit of time until the opener.I'd have no issue with him not participating in camp at all as long as he is 100% fit for the season opener. It's not like he needs the practice to know the scheme and him not out there is giving reps to young guys that do need the practice.
He's still sat working out, he's still in team and D line meetings. I don;t get why people are stressing it so much.
Nobody stresses Nuk barely practicing and Watt is basically the Nuk of defense. He'll be back when he's fully healed. I'd MUCh rather that than they rush him back for some pointless practice sessions and he reaggravate it and miss games.
In fact it wouldn't surprise me at all if the coaching staff are playing up his injury so it doesn't practice and they just ease him in with 10 days or a week to do to knock the rust off.
yes
but i hate that post conditioning run, it was described as "a little soreness" in his hamstring
that sounded like a 2 week max thing
now KK is talking about JJ not practicing until the week of the opener.
What he has now?xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
I don't think he's been reinstated.What he has now?
Still in covid protocol?I don't think he's been reinstated.
Three 'disasters" is fast approaching a 'chicken little' rating.
The cure to a hamstring strain is anti-inflammatories, ice, light massage, and...... time.
You don't do things that potentially aggravate the healing process.

I don't want him to be rushed back from injury, obviously. The worry is that he is FORCED to miss every snap of practice thus far because of an injury. Can't spin that in any way positive; you can only mitigate the negative. He IS (or at least WAS, we hope) injured.
Definitely concerning.
Uh huh.
Thank you for the voice of reasonWhat exactly is Watt missing?
He's not learning anything on the practice field. He's a 32 year old 10 year vet. He's keeping fit in the weights room. He's in meetings watching film and studying gameplans. I'm not sure what you think the problem is Stout.
I wonder if the Cards holding out vets and other players in preseason and training camp is a league wide approach due to the unique Covid situation or the fact we have a 17 game season now
The only disappointment for me is that Kyler could have really used Watt applying inside pressure/forced to avoid getting his passes swatted. That would have been great work for him and the offense. Guess they'll figure it out during the regular season. He appears to be working on it, but again no JJ Watt to really challenge him.Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole things is 90% fabricated and they just aren't bother about having a 32 year old vet with an injury history taking pointless practice snaps he doesn't need and taking them away from Fotu, Lawrence, Allen etc who need them more.
Less worried about what he's missing--although it's not nothing--than the possible severity or length of the injury. What exactly is Watt missing?
