I think load management is going to be even bigger this year I think lots of teams are planning on playing their benches more early in the year and building up the starters to play more later in the year. Boston and Philly did in the first game too

I should add the popular one right now is the Clippers but it seems to me the odds of all 3 of Kawhi, PG and Wall staying healthy all year are pretty low? On paper they look great but given the recent injury history it would seem likely at least 1 and probably 2 of those guys will miss a significant number of games even if they load manage.

But if they stay healthy I completely agree the Clips can be really good.

I would say the lakers have more legit and serious injuries than the clips, discounting Kahwi's acl.

Two out of three ain't bad come playoff time with their depth.

There is a massive difference between John Wall and the the other two.

John Wall is about equivalent to Cam Payne at this point of his career in my book.

Westbrook says he thinks coming off the bench could have influenced his hamstring injury as he's never done it before and has no clue what to do at the start of the game if he's not starting.

Most players just sit on the bench if they are not starting. :)

I took it as a not subtle way of saying I want to start, which he did last night.

UCLA guy I can't hate on him but he does and says some pretty silly stuff. He got a T last night he made a layup and was coming back inbounds from out of bounds when the Warrior player inbounded the ball. Westbrook was still out of bounds, as was the Warrior player but he tried to deflect the inbounds pass and both fouled the Warrior and interfered with the inbounds.

They called a T which is the right call and he had a look on his face like he couldn't believe that it was against the rules to interfere with the inbounds pass when you yourself are out of bounds too.

Yeah, Westbrook is an unhappy camper if he doesn't start. This may be a problem all season for the Lakers.

Looking at the box score, it shows he started last night.

Least he plays instead of acting like a dbag like Crowder, or tried to, or didn't quit on the team.

No excuses for Jae Crowder, but it does make me wonder how the Suns treat their players during contract negotiations, at least those outside of a select few players.

If it makes you wonder, It makes players wonder, that's why you don't play with the assets.
This is Basketball Front Office 101
Other players know Jae is a knucklehead and way over sensitive so we could get a pass on that one.
But DA and Cam are homegrown products and in the limelight and other players see that stuff.

When its your Livelihood some players might opt for the team that's easy, not stressful, without a racist owner that strings you along and tells you nothing.

Timberwolves waived Eric Paschall. Potential backup power forward for the Suns?

Don’t forget about Stix as well.

It’s a weird tact to take against your young talent… especially when you kinda disavow the draft to replace them.

Note, I'm talking end of season success. If Jackson's stress fracture lasts long, which is certainly possible bigs and feet are not a good mix, but if it does then their season goes with him he's the key to their defense IMO. But if he gets healthy and is playing well as the playoffs roll around I think they're going to be really good again.
Yeah im not really buying the grizz.

GS, clips, nuggets, suns, pelicans and probably even the twolves are better imo.

I base it largely on the theory that to be good in the NBA you have to learn how to win. They got very close last year, I am assuming their young guys learned.

They do have a "weird" roster to me. They were better without Ja last year I suspect he'll have learned from that. i think they're better without Brooks, who's out hurt now too, but it appears he's back soon and will go back to starting.

They're just so big and so athletic when at full strength.

Edit didn't watch how the heck did the Knicks take them to OT.

Booker +20 +/- even after being on the floor when we were down by over 20 points!

In what had to be the most unlikely result from the openers, the Jazz curb stomp the Nuggets by 21.

Looks like point Book is going to be a common thing this year. If he can actually learn a little from CP3 he could do ok in stretches.

He made a couple really nice passes in that 4th quarter but I think he'll always be a far better shooting guard than point guard. And IMO even when he's playing PG for short stretches he needs a fast guard playing alongside him, someone that can bring the ball up court against pressure.

I think the only reason Ben Simmons came off as a quality player in Philly is because they had a lineup that was built to make him look as good as possible. He was surrounded by big men and spot up shooters.

As a "play maker" on a team whose scoring comes from ISO players like Irving and Durant he is completely useless.

You would think his defense would still make a difference though.
