We agree what Green did was excessive and beyond, but I don't see Sabonis as faultless. In retrospect, Sabonis may have deserved a flagrant 1 penalty.
I didn't say Sabonis was faultless. He got a technical. I didn't see him do anything outside what I see almost nightly in the NBA and that is guys grabbing other guys away from the ball in a non-basketball play. It didn't look like he was trying to hurt Green either. It looked to me is if he didn't want to get stepped on. Just my two cents. It wouldn't bother me though if Sabonis got a F1. It's just debatable.

Sabonis started it, without a doubt, and deserved a foul or technical. But IMO there was no ill intent on his part he was just flailing around trying to protect himself. Green wouldn't have known that though so like I said, it's understandable that he'd react. But he went far beyond an acceptable reaction, that was an attempt to injure IMO. Then he tried to step on his leg too before leaving the court where he began his sideline antics.

My issue with Sabonis is grabbing the foot is not a basketball play.

and or as Lillard says, it should have been a take foul

Draymond Green is known for his... hustle?

Or maybe that should be tackling.

I don't see the take foul. Warrior players were already down the court.

Sabonis is not faultless, but Green escalated the situation and even incited the crowd.

His point is Sabonis didn't make a basketball play he just grabbed a player that was attempting to run downcourt into the play. Sabonis is on the floor at that point so it's a pretty clear example of what has been a take foul this year. the rule doesn't if I understand correctly dictate the player has to have the ball.

With Sabonis apparently hurt I assume Draymond will get suspended.

This team definitely needs some kind of ass-kicker. It’s tissue paper soft. Mentally and physically.

I know we hate him but I would go for Pat Bev as an enforcer. But we have someone like that in Craig who is better

Maybe the Suns can sign Patrick Beverley too. Too bad the Suns couldn't have traded for Grayson Allen as well. (lots of sarcasm)

Maybe I'm confusing it with the old breakaway foul or whatever they called it, but the Warriors had players leading on the fast break.

Right and Sabonis grabbing Draymond stopped the break because it was a foul

Isn't Draymond part of the reason KD left the Warriors? Not the whole reason but they definitely feuded during KD's time there.

As far as Pat Bev, that may cause me to check out completely. I don't know if there's an NBA player I like less nowadays. Doesn't help that he doesn't offer much in terms of basketball skills either.

There were fouls/technicals on both teams where it originated, so I don't see it unless they are using delayed penalties like in ice hockey.

Right but the original act that stopped the play was Sabonis grabbing draymond, the refs called that, but they didn't call it a take foul.

Sabonis wasn't just grabbing someone so they wouldn't step on him. He grabbed the leg so the opposing player could not easily join a fast break the other way. Should have been a whistle and a foul called immediately. Because there wasn't, Green forced his way apart from him. I think a lot of acting was done by Sabonis afterward. You'd think he was shot the way he laid on the ground for so long.

I didn't say it warranted it I said the stomp by Draymond happened because Sabonis grabbed his foot. He wasn't intentionally walking over Sabonis or anything like that. Sabonis got knocked into draymond and fell and then grabbed the leg. Klay was blocking him out and Sabonis fell down. Draymond was standing to his side, he grabs Draymonds foot and then Draymond steps on him. Absolutely punish Draymond for his reaction but don't blame the play on Draymond when you were the one that grabbed his foot first.

The reaction warrants a possible suspension but that play doesn't happen if Sabonis doesn't first grab the foot

This gives me flashbacks of the Rodney King situation where they ran that video in slow motion and argued he didn't get his ass kicked.

No that isn't a take foul. There has to be no defense in front of where the foul was committed for it to be a take foul.

He got a technical foul for it, and that seems like the right call to me. Draymond jumped on his chest, which means he put 300+ pounds of pressure on him, and if he stepped on a rib just the right way he could have broken one.

Even so flagrant 2 seems like an adequate call to me. It's his interaction with the crowd that should get him a suspension.
