That’s fair, and when Chase signs his mega deal they better start hitting on lineman in the draft or they’ll have $100 million in two players and continue to be at the bottom of their division.

That being said I would much rather be in the Bengals situation than our own. Lol
Just not sure going Penei Sewell and then Rondale Moore does a lot for Joe Burrow (we picked Moore right after they went OL in the 2nd round)
Although I guess if they were going Burrow's former teammates they'd draft Terrace Marshall in round 2 (Carolina)

Its just something I'd rather worry about later. Its a top 3 QB/WR combo in the league figure out the rest later.

Its why even at the time I wanted Wirfs I got it when people wanted Lamb, although not quite Chase level.

I am all about MHJ with the first pick as I think he is elite in many ways. I also think the drop off at both oline and wr is not crazy.

My preference would be to sign the best guard in FA and draft a tackle with Houston’s pick or our second rounder.

if you look at past drafts -- 10 -15 years ago so you can see the full careers of drafted players-

Each draft produces 0-5 "special" players--

Those special players mostly come from the top 10 picks

because of that -- need goes out the window in the top 10. Odds are -- there are maybe 2-3 really special players in that range. Limiting the pick to need makes it less likely you take them.

Thanks for making the point for WRs, as the Bengals were and are not known for having a top OL group. They are known for having lots of weapons in the WR room, though.
Eh the Bengals could have taken Sewell and St. Brown later in the draft and they would be better.

Don’t know that for sure. St. Brown is cool, but he isn’t the game-breaker that Ja’Marr is. He probably wouldn’t even get used to his potential in the slot where you can use Ja’Marr anywhere.

When the Bengals drafted Chase they already had first rounders at C (Billy Price) and OT (Jonah Williams). They added a second rounder at OT in sex offender Jackson Carman that year.

Always good to remember that the draft capital invested at the position has to pan out in real life.

Where do you rank Nix?
He has the huge advantage of having played the most games at QB in NCAA history. He’s honed his skills and is an expert at capitalizing on his opponents’ weaknesses. He reminds me of Chris Weinke, a man among boys. He will play in the NFL, but I think he’s at his ceiling. He likely could start immediately, but he’s not a guy who could carry a team IMO. Likely a late one or early 2 pick. Might end up as a career backup.

Daniels is at another level than any other QB running the ball. If Anthony Richardson is a top 5 talent, then Daniels is too.

Funny how things change. When he was at Arizona State I use to think it was crazy people compared him to Kyler.

I get that he's 22 year old SR, but now Im seeing the Lamar Jackson like comparison in terms of wiggle and long speed. Probably doesnt quite accelerate like Kyler nor the burst of Lamar. However, he's that level of athlete.

It'd be interesting if winds up on a team like the Falcons (assuming he goes that).

I think Daniels is fools gold and I'm here for it. IMO, the more QBs that make a case to be drafted high, the better the Cards chances of still getting great talent, when without a top 5 pick (potentially).

To be fair, Texas A&M fans said the same thing about Kyler.

His passing has obviously improved. Much more accurate. But, I am leery of betting a franchise on him. I would not be surprised if someone does take him very high. And/or Nix. I am glad we don't HAVE to take a QB. There are some good looking prospects but I don't think there is anyone you can say is a "slam dunk".

I don’t like Daniels or McCarthy as NFL QBs, at all.
