It was funny, I was listening to Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan on the radio and they were talking about suck for Luck. Said it will take a 2 win team to win the Luck sweepstakes and, trying to brag about them, said Niners will double that amount. Kirwan called him on it. Trying to talk up a 4 win Niner team. Ryan does their pre-season games.

Im having a tough time figuring out what San Fran is doing. Id say they had about as worse an offseason of anybody in the league.

Sometimes i think they are tanking for Luck but theres just no way they could get the coach and players to buy into that.

Hopefully they are awful but NOT THAT AWFUL.

Weird...

Mays blows & there isnt a chance the Niners are worse than the Bungles!!! They have the makings of the '76 Bucs IMO. If I'm not mistaken that will make 3 times the've had the #1 pick.

I am NOT suggesting the so called "tanking" is possible however if one reads the small print in the NFL franchise agreement guess what?? The league has the right to take away a franchise from an owner for a number of various violations..need I say more??

No one in their right mind would jeopardize that possibility......that is not "bad luck" that is total stupidity.

Adam Schefter reporting that the Bengals will also receive "blown coverage" and "missed tackles" in the deal.

(stole that from another board, made me laugh)

Your right but say the niners get the 2nd or 3rd pick and the bengals are happy with dalton then san fran could offer the bangels something they couldnt refuse to move up??

I just domt get it. Tje niners made absolutely no play for a QB this offseason amd let half their defense leace in FA. They didnt add anyone decent except for that safety. Its like theyndidnt even try. I dont even remember hearing any rumors about who they were interested in...

Its really just WEIRD to me...

It will take at least 3 first round picks for Luck.

Their D coach was asked to talk about the safety position and named 6 guys without naming Mays so he was clearly not going to play there. Happens a lot when coaches are changed the new regime has no feeling of ownership of guys it didn't draft so if the player isn't what they want now, they are less likely to coach them up.

I think Mays will help Cincy first on ST and eventually at Safety. I actually would have liked to see the Cards get a shot at him as I think the way we play AW is the way Mays would be most effective.

He didn't play well in pass coverage as a rookie and apparently the 49ers new scheme emphasizes that more from the safeties so Mays was a bad fit.

With the Bengals owner, who knows. This is the guy who would rather sit on Palmer then try to improve his team and the guy who refused to trade Ocho Cinco for 2 firsts. He might turn around and say "we made a promise to Dalton that he'd be our starter, so we're not going to draft a QB" and completely pass on Luck. He is that stupid.

Have a good friend who is a long time 49er fan living in the Bay area. Felt that he was way overrated coming out of college. Told me that many were against the drafting of Mays but that Singletary really wanted him and convinced management to take him. He was a bust last year and Harbaugh didn't like him at all.

I think Harbaugh is smarter than Sing Sing, He is purging the nonsense to rebuild.

But does DD still wish Cards fans could be more like 49er fans? NFL players won't even take their kids to the games!

49ers will recommend ending preseason games vs. Raiders

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...n-games-vs-raiders?module=HP11_headline_stack

fter violence marred a weekend preseason game against the archrival Oakland Raiders, the San Francisco 49ers on Monday moved to strengthen security at home games, including banning tailgating after kickoff and warning fans that rowdy behavior won't be tolerated. Jed York, 49ers CEO, also said he will recommend that the NFL call off the annual preseason battle between the Niners and Raiders indefinitely.
"This is a game where you have a rivalry situation and, unfortunately you have the worst segment from a very small segment of both fan bases that come and brings about this type of event," York said Monday at a news conference at Candlestick Park. "It's our belief that we should recommend to the NFL that this game is at least postponed for some period of time."

York later said, "It's unfortunate."

His hips are way too damn stiff to be halfway decent in coverage. You can coach up a lot of traits, but fluidity while changing directions is not really one of them. I'd rather draft another (early) mid round safety to sit for a few years and learn, because Rashad Johnson isn't the SS heir apparent.

Mays sucks. He was a mid 2nd rounder and there's a chance that we will get the Bengals' 3rd rounder for him. That's GREAT trade for us.

How are the 49ers tanking for Luck when we are winning at least 5 games in the NFC West? impossible.

I don't believe the 9ers are tanking for Luck but are you really claiming they'll go at least 5 - 1 in division? As opinionated as you are, you're bound to be correct eventually but I don't think this will be the time.

I don't mean to take the bait but how the division breaks down will be interesting. I think it's unlikely the Niners play the Cards and Rams twice each and come out with three wins. I wouldn't even bet on them to go 2-0 against the Seahawks.

I'm realistically hoping the Cardinals go 4-2 in the division myself

LMAO! Where did you hear that? A 3rd for Mays? You'll be lucky to get a 6th rounder for him. Even if you did, how is trading a 2nd rounder for a 3rd round pick a "great trade"?

He was a wasted 2nd round pick. Deal with it.

Blowhard still believes Alex Smith will lead them to a title. He's been out of touch with reality for quite some time!!! Maybe he's got a concussion from getting his ass kicked by a Raider fan. :D

Maybe you should keep up with NFL current events before lashing out on me.

Dead weight for potential high 3rd rounder = great trade

Any USC fan could've told you the Mays hype was overrated.

I still say there's a chance Luck will return to Stanford for 2012 if the Bengals tank it to get the pick.
