There is no way IMO you can justify this as a 4th round pick. This kid was CLEARLY going to be available. at # 196

Not according to BA - said he knows of 2 teams hot on his tail that would have taken him before we picked again.

This kid has a nice smooth delivery, is huge, & has freakish athleticism. He has Cam Newton like athleticism, with a smoother throwing motion. Man, can he move the pile too!! My nephew goes to VT & sees him walking around campus. On and off the field, he stands out in a crowd. I really like the pick. As someone stated earlier, sometimes you just have to swing for the fences. Arians is that kind of guy!

I was impressed by him in his conference call...sounded very intelligent, level-headed, confident, but not cocky.

This is how Kiem drafts. He is aggressive and not afraid to swing for the fence. This pick reminds me of honey badger last year. Risk with reward potential. Same for the fast WR we took with the concussions Ryan Swoop?

Has anyone watched him actually play?

Va Tech and Frank Beamer are all about Defense and Special teams play. It is not an offensive juggernaut. Does no one remember Jim Druckenmiller? Sean Glennon? Marcus(not Michael Vick)? Will Furrer? Tyrod Taylor? Same HC, same system, musical chair OCs. No one else recruited Thomas as a QB except Va Tech and surely they thought he would agree to switch positions once on campus.

Even Don Strock only ever became more than Dan Marino's fluffer. Va Tech has never been the Cradle of QBs. I don't care that if he is better than Stanton or whatisname, If he is the future, I have seen the future, and the future is brutally bad.

Come on folks. These guys running the Cards are not veteran proven football gurus. The blind faith in them is blinding and has no basis, yet. Let's give them the required 3 years before anointing them as genius.

I thought Bill P. said it best when he stated that when you're drafting in these rounds you draft numbers, and nobody has better numbers then LOgan Thomas.

He can run too... He'll, if he doesn't work as a QB he can probably convert to a pro bowl caliber TE.

All I know is this, he is freakish athlete. I will not compare his mobility to Kap because he has like zero accuracy firing it down field on the run from what little I know and have seen but if his footwork really needs severe work... then I actually think his accuracy can be vastly improved by addressing the footwork. If it is just little tinkering they can see and not significant, then he is just an inaccurate QB from again what little I know compare to the professionals lol

We keep going the cheap route, in the draft, for the QBOF. All UDFA and late round picks since Leinart. (Not including the Kolb trade.)

We passed on Manziel, and passed on Bridgewater twice. This is the type of decision that can haunt a franchise and get people fired. Now, if they all bust then Keim will get off the hook. But, if JM or TB hit it big, it's going to hurt bad. Because I have little faith that Thomas is going to be more than a backup.

After watching the above highlight reel I am more curious

He can sidestep the rusher, he is very quick for his size and is fast

DB's were bouncing off him

He throws a nice long ball

He is very raw and needs coaching

He does have some skills and I am beginning to see why the coaching staff thinks they can get more out of him.

Actually, more like Randal Cunningham from back in day. Not sure on the spelling.

I lived in PHL "back in the day" Cunningham's throwing motion looked like a windmill. He was tall and lanky and I always expected him to break. Thomas' throwing motion is picture perfect. He has a big strong frame that can take abuse. His footwork needs alot of work, but according to the agility tests, he has the footspeed and coordination to do it.

He hasn't played qb except in college, and that under three different OC's. So, with various systems, suspicious offensive talent around him, and lack of experience it is possible that his accuracy is more of a product of those things.

Yes, he is probably 60-40 in potential. 60% chance of being a bust. But the other 40 is a chance to be something REALLY special.

I am ok with this.

Good or bad, Logan Thomas is clearly the highlight (from a chatter perspective) of this draft. Looking forward to watching him in a few months during preseason.

Just like Honeybadger last year. He's a mid round pick that everyone has an opinion on, and everyone is going to want to watch.
