I think Andy Reid must have lent himself to the front office to pull this off, this smells of Andy "pull the rug out from under you" Reid, and dude must have felt really bad with the whole way the Kolb thing has gone down...he had no idea it would be this bad lol

Great news as I really thought Jefferson would be cut. Anything we get is a bonus.

Just looking over Vikings roster - focused in on OT and OLBs we might theoretically be interested in:

Charlie Johnson (OT - 7th year) is veteran depth there - played for Indy before last year

The other tackles/depth o-linemen I haven't heard of.

At DE/LB, they have Audie Cole (rookie from Stanford), Larry Dean (3rd year), Erin Henderson (not sure if he's a starter), Tyrone McKenzie (ditto), Marvin Mitchell (vet), and D'Aundre Reed (went to Arizona - Bear Down!)

This ain't yo daddy's cardinals.... This stuff never would have happened before.

Who woulda thunk AJ Jefferson was even tradeable?

I sure as heck didn't think he would have any value. Curious to see what we get, if it is even a 6th round pick I would say we got a steal.

I would not say that was a steal at all, but it would make a good trade for a player we might have cut in the future. Jefferson did start for us, so how bad is the Viking secondary.

Considering he was an UDFA it would be an absolute steal.

His value is established by what he did on the field. He was not great by any stretch of the imagination but I would call him above the talent level of a UDFA now where a majority do not make a team ever as a starter. :)

I think Jefferson could become a very good CB/S---he's got all the physical tools (size and speed) and he was blanketing receivers the past few weeks. In a pass happy division like the NFC North, Jefferson gives the Vikings a cover CB who can match up on the bigger WRs and TEs.

Give the Vikings a lot of credit on this one---they did a very good job finding an under the radar talent.

Who are the tackles for the Vikes? I mean, does anyone see any value to be had on the Vike OL they would be willing to part with in a trade...

Loadholt and Khalil are the starters, I'm sure. It would take a lot more than Jefferson to land them. Charlie Johnson came over from Indy last year and I'd guess he's currently the #3 OT. Beyond that, a bunch of guys I've never heard of.

Could we have offered some picks with Jefferson for someone like Khalil or maybe the Vikes are just needing in the secondary and offered some late round picks for Jefferson :)

He does have the size, but def not the speed. That's why he went from being a second round prospect to a an undrafted free agent. Dude ran in the 4.7's and has been burnt deep consistently.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if it was a late round pick for Jefferson. Or a depth guy on their team that all of us probably have never heard of.

nah, he tested out pretty fast in other times before the draft as well, it's a lack of instincts which have cost him or rather just getting used to playing CB. Last year was his first interception of his whole life playing CB I believe and he only played CB his senior year in college if memory serves me.

I'm thinking probably a late pick, but who knows.

Well, I do not think any of us thought we would keep the current number of players in the secondary and it is good to get something from one of them...your probably right Darkside

Seriously! I expected him to just be cut outright. If we get a 7th for him, I'm happy. But the report said picks, plural? Sweet!

IMO maybe we traded him and picks for a player?

As someone else suggested, it could be something like Jefferson + our 7th rounder for their 6th rounder or something. Remember the Bryant McFadden trade?
