I know the age old sentiment that any players of ours stink still run rampant in our minds by years of the Cardinals fielding mediocre talent and conditioning that mindset but it is more of a cliche now for the most part and Jefferson is a good pick up for the Vikes. You bet he is worth conditional picks when one compares the talent level of our secondary to the Viking secondary which is lacking.

He does have the size, but def not the speed. That's why he went from being a second round prospect to a an undrafted free agent. Dude ran in the 4.7's and has been burnt deep consistently.
Recheck your info. I think you'll find that AJ ran a 4.42 at rhe Combine and his jumping and agility scores were off the charts.

Done deal

We probably swapped our 7th for their additional 6th or something like that. Conditionally, maybe we could snag their 5th or extra 4th instead, depending on performance. Me speculating.

Why do thay do this BS?? Why not just release the trade details?

Probably waiting for the physical in Minnesota, all the paperwork signed (or close to it) before releasing details in case there were dependencies on the trade that could be impacted.

This is all about clearing a roster spot for Levi so they can put him on IR after the Seattle and be able to use their onex-player Mulligan to possibly retrieve him later in the season.

Vikings get A.J. Jefferson for pick

Updated: September 1, 2012, 6:08 PM ET
Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings acquired cornerback A.J. Jefferson from the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday for a conditional draft pick in 2013.

In bringing in the 24-year-old Jefferson, the Vikings continued their approach of adding youthful depth to a rebuilding roster. Cornerback was an area of concern for the coaching staff with Antoine Winfield entering his 14th season and missed the final 10 games of last season because of injury while Chris Cook has struggled with injuries and off-the-field issues in his first two years in Minnesota.

Jefferson was the odd man out in a crowd at cornerback for Arizona. Signed as an undrafted rookie out of Fresno State in 2010, he played in all 16 games last season, the first seven as a starter. He had 67 tackles, 59 solo, with one interception.

It could be conditional on how Jefferson performs this year.. If so, I hope he has a monster year, if just for one year..

It is conditional in 2013 (see post above), however, no details released.

Could be late round pick with the condition that should he do this or that, the Cards can flip picks in an earlier round if it's to their advantage.

You know Vikings fans must be so exicted right now.

"Hes young, 6'2, fast, has great leaping ability. And he started last year!"

Jokes on them. Jefferson friggin sucks.

So thrilled with this trade just to get him off the team.

We were going to cut him, so I'd think its a conditional 6th or 7th, and maybe nothing at all of they dont keep him on their roster.

A good swap for us since he was gone, but I wouldnt get all worked up about the terms.

I don't think it's a big deal either but I do like the fact the effort was made. Actually, I think we typically make the effort so I guess I like the idea there is tangible evidence that we didn't just sit around and waive a possible asset.

It's a good move no matter what we get, because we were just going to release him and get nothing.

Yeah, I like the move, I just dont think the terms are worth getting worked up about. Its a 6th or a 7th.

Is it allowable for a team to condition a pick on where that pick winds up after the regular season?

i.e. Can you stipulate that the pick will be a 5th round pick if it's slotted at #1 - #16, but a 4th round pick if it's slotted between #17 - #32?

Father in the hospital, swamped with school work, a goofball chick that won't leave me alone, my soccer team upchucking on the last day of the transfer window, the Pirates losing a game they should have won through gross mismanagement...so Skelton starting is a good thing, and the Jefferson trade is nice, but...yeah, not a great day.

Sorry to hear of your bad times. Not to get off onto a story, but I myself had gone thru a tough time about a year and a half ago...seemed like everytime I would go to pick myself up off of the floor, the "big guy upstairs" would knock me back down. I had lost my job....lost a very close friend to cancer...multiple vehicle breakdowns...etc...you get the picture. A close friend kept telling me that "the big guy" won't give you anymore than you can handle...sure didnt seem that way!...lol. Anyways, dont give up..I continued to pick myself up off the mat and keep fighting!...Last year I landed a great job with a major world company, they have sent me to college to get a degree which will double my salary next July after I graduate..... KEEP YOUR HEAD UP MY FRIEND!...this will only make you stonger.

Cardschatter: UPDATE: The trade has been officially completed. The Vikings get A.J. Jefferson. The trade involves “an exchange of undisclosed, conditional 2013 draft picks.” I’d think that would mean a swap of picks between the teams, meaning the Cards get one, the Vikings get one. We’ll find out the rounds involved as we get closer to the draft, but I can’t imagine we’re talking about high picks here. Conditional usually means it’s based on the play of the player involved, so Jefferson’s performance — or at least, the number of games he plays, or something like that — will make an impact.

Something like one of their 4th-6th for one of our 5th-7th, depending on how much he plays, mtl.
