I think Mike D'Antoni would kill Donnie Walsh if he signed Amare Stoudemire to a giant contract. And that really doesn't have anything to do with coach Mike's departure from Phoenix. He knows that Amare talks a huge game. Whoever ends up with him better surround him with good defenders. That's the problem with the current Phoenix Suns team. It's possible to cover up a bad defender, especially with an offense like theirs. It doesn't work when your power forward and point guard are among the league's worst defenders, and your Center can't defend the pick and roll.

We will hear a lot of rumors this summer, but I'll bet the offers the Phoenix Suns actually get are pretty sorry. They might have received some decent offers for Amare Stoudemire if not for this eye injury. Nash and Barbosa are probably the only players with some decent trade value. I hope they are willing to wait until the trade deadline if/when the offers suck.

Geez, I'm as depressing as elindholm. :)

Well, it's all Nash's fault. :)

Amare is emulating Nash's every single deed lately, from no defense, to talking bad about the coach and etc. ;)

He is BSing around, saying how he likes DA and then praised Gentry as the ONLY coach that'd listen to him. Unfortunately, he has no trade value as of now. But, if the Suns expect to be able to sign Bosh with the cap next season, why not just wait it out.

True. Nash seems to have the most trade value among them all now.

People need to give it up. Amare is damaged goods right now, he's trying to pump himself up because all anyone can think about right now is that his knees may go bad soon and he was a fingernail from being blinded.

No team is going to offer anything close to equal value, assuming he's worth what he says he is.

Amare has no problem hyping himself up to the media. This isnt new nor does it mean he wont be a sun next season.

I wish Amare could play as good as he hypes himself. It would come in helpful when he is not injured.

I was in the rebuild aroud Amare crowd, now I realize that he is going to opt out and bolt after next year. We need to trade him while his value is at its peak. Teams will not give up a lot at the deadline because they know he'll be a 1/2 year rental.

Some possible trade partners & targets:

ATL - Josh Smith
NY - Lee
MEM - Gay, Warrick
TOR - Bosh
CHA - Okafor
UTA - Millsap or Boozer
NO - David West
WAS - JaVale McGee, Andray Blatche
PHI - Marreese Speights, Sam Dalembert

Trade him at his peak. Yeah right, anyone who thinks right now that Amare is "at his peak" is delusional.

"Opt out"??? How so? The Suns aren't going to extend him... How's that equate to Amare "opting out"???

10/11 is Amare's option. He becomes FA in summer 2010 if he opts out, otherwise FA in summer 2011. He could negotiate an extension this summer, but it's unlikely. If he didn't opt out next year, they could still negotiate an extension then, but it's also unlikely that he didn't opt out.:D

His TRADE VALUE is not going to get any higher than now, not his playing peak.

:bang: :mulli:

in my opinion that depends only on whether he is healthy around the trade deadline. As long as he is healthy and concerns about his eyes are gone he'll have more trade value then. Right now the guy hasn't played in four months. There will be teams looking to make a playoff push who will be willing to give up some young prospects or draft picks for a great frontcourt scorer. The same goes for Shaquille O'Neal.

Of course the real dilemma comes when the Phoenix Suns are playing playoff but not championship caliber basketball in February. It would make it a little difficult to sell the fans on that point.

I just think the offers for him this summer will be quite underwhelming.

Your logic is pure. The only thing I might add, is some team going nowhere in particular might offer a fair package for Amare based on his return to health this summer. There are always teams willing to gamble on such an offensive talent.

IMO, the preferred trade piece is Shaq in a Tyson Chandler type of trade. Trading Shaq early might change the Suns perspective. Also the way things play out this summer in the draft (if the Suns go PG), I wouldn't be surprised if Nash asks to be traded.

In essence, I think if the Suns can trade Shaq for value this summer, they will likely be much more conservative in making further changes.

He might not be at his peak but is it really going to get that much higher? The only thing Amare could do to improve his game is get better defensively and rebound more consistently.

At this point in his career do you really believe that is going to happen? Even if you did, it's now or never.

His career does not matter right now. Hoping a team trades for potential is one thing, but any team will be extremely cautious in talking about Amare Stoudemire. Amare is damaged goods right now. Until he can PROVE he's injury free, his trade value is one step above nil.

I'm confused, what trade value do you think he has?? He pretty much has NONE right now.

"None"??? That's more than a bit extreme. Amare still has a great deal of trade value. Granted, not as much as he might have had prior to the eye injury, however it's very reasonable to expect him to make a fully recovery and not be hindered once he returns.
Amare is what he is - a perennial All-Star only because of his offensive game. He'll never be a dominant defensive threat. Everyone knows this... There are teams out there that would love to have him because of his game on the offensive side of the ball.

Trade him and our pick to NY for lee their pick and fillers. done and done. To say amare has next to no trade value is a bit....no, REALLY ridiculous.

And NY would never do that. At least not this summer. Wanna talk about ridiculous??

I understand some of you don't want him on your team, but I want him on my team. Hope his eye is healthy and I like his bravado. Just about every good very fighter has it. When we don't have a dominant inside finisher with a decent jumpshot, you may rethink what Amare brings to the table, instead of what he doesn't.

I miss Suns playoffs...Amare is no T-Mac. We wont play better without him or with a filler but some will always want what they don't have. Only time will tell.

Actually, I'd love to have him on the team if his injuries don't hamper him. But those injuries are a big, big deal and diminish his value significantly.

That's a little like saying that every good fighter has two lungs. Stoudemire's bravado is worthless when he doesn't translate it into a drive to maximize his potential.

I posted this else where.. but it is EXACTLY what we need to do with memphis...

Suns Trade:

Amare

Suns Receive:

Darko Milicic (expiring contract)
Greg Buckner (expiring contract)
Darrell Arthur
#2 pick
#35 pick

Amare will not be a suns after the 2010 season... We need to be working the phones HARD before the draft, and secure Rubio...

anyone who thinks we should just keep amare and HOPE to resign him is living in lalal land, it isn't happending, we need to take charge and get something for him....
