Nope, this has happened for the last couple of years where a bad singer gets kept around for a while and this is why:

Say you have 100 voters, 80% of those voters are going to be fans of the show and vote for thier favorites, the other 20% will be people voting for the worst singer because they want the show to end, so voting with 10 people goes like this

1- Best performer - 20
2- Sanjaya - 20
3-10 will split the remaining 60 points between them with the 3rd gettnig around 15, and the 10th around 2-3 points. So Sanjaya sticks around until you get to a small enough number of contestands usually around 4 and the votes go:

1- Best Performer - 29
2- 2nd best - 27
3- 3rd best - 24
4- Sanjaya - 20

Now Sanjaya gets booted because the people trying to screw up the show no longer have enough other people to keep the votes spread out.

At best Sanjaya could be taken to the final 3, but the final 2 will be the 2 best performers left.

I think that all of the other networks are conspiring to torpedo American Idol. They probably require all employees to go home and vote as many times as possible for Sanjaya. Their only hope to compete with AI is to undermine it's voting process.
