It's not the schools fault for that, when it's the only game in town as in North Nogales you tend to get more press. I live with that everyday here.
Give me a break. ASU has done nothing to help out a guy who has been the best player in the Pac-10 going on three years.

Have they put a decent coaching staff around him? No.
Have they put decent players around him? No.
Have they scheduled games to get him on TV? No.
Have they marketed to a large metropolitan area to get people to come see him? No.

If I was an ASU fan I'd be pissed off about it as other "star" HS bball players may see this and think twice before committing to ASU. Think about it, Jerryd Bayless plays about 20 minutes from campus and is one of the Top 10 players in the country at his age. What are the odds of him going to ASU? I'd say about zero.

ASU drops a game to a team with no conference wins at home?!?

You can close the book on Rob Evans at ASU. He's done.

Maybe and I wish. But, if past history of this program is any indicator, ASU will make the NIT and he'll stay. The athletic department is not in a good spot to eat contracts.

These last two losses were more the norm than anything else. Same old thing happened under Freider, Newman and Patterson too. Just when there gets to be a little positive buzz, turn around and lose a couple.

Not if he makes the NCAAs.

Nickel, I don't think the standards are that high. An NIT bid, even with a loss at home in the first game in front of 4,000 fans, would get him back.

If this is true, it basically confirms what I have been saying about the athletic department's interest in the basketball program.

They're going to have to beat the cream of the Pac-10 crop even if they manage to win 20 games to catch the eye of the selection committee. Right now their RPI is 62 which would land them in the NIT. This is where their joke of a non-conference schedule is killing them. Accomplish the tall task of beating Washington or Arizona and finish well they're likely in. Have a sole big win of Vanderbilt at a neutral site means a NIT game in front of 1000 fans at Wells Fargo.

Yeah, they have four games left against UofA, Washington and UCLA. I'd think they'd have to split those to get into the NCAAs. And, that's assuming they don't flub the rest of their schedule. Getting a split against the Oregon schools this weekend is pretty important.

Last three Pac-10 games, OSU averaged 59 points scored.

Tonight aginst Coach Evans and his Devils they score 88.
I thought Rob was going "to teach the Pac-10 how to play defense." :biglaugh:

This bandwagon appears to be empty if football recruiting is getting most of the attention. It's going to get ugly next year if Ike goes NBA.

It's absolutely astounding how ASU can't get one decent player on the team other than Ike. It is pure masochism watching that group of losers fumble around there like they are in a special olympics game. It is unbelievable that these idiots get scholarships, it's pure thievery. Ike is a wonderful talent, and to see him having to struggle with this "team" is a punishment I wouldn't wish upon anyone. If they had two average players surrounding Ike, they would be third in the Pac 10, and would have a good chance to make some noise in the tourney. Wait until Ike is gone, this team will be worse than some high school teams. Evans needs to go, not only can't he recruit, he can't coach. So much for those stifling defenses. This crap makes me long for the Bill Frieder days, at least someone cared about ASU basketball...

At least our football program has showed signs of life, much more important to me than College basketball. From the no name talent, to the mid-range jump shot three pointer, to the 35 second shot clock, college basketball is barely watchable until the tourney :D

Come on Chris, you know you'd like college basketball more if Tempe actually resembled a normal basketball program. As awful as the Cats were under Mackovic I still found a way to enjoy college football even if it was painful. ASU needs to can that clown Evans ASAFP and hire a legitimate coach before the season ends to convince Ike to stay on for his senior year and to show their fans that they actually want to become at least a decent basketball school.

Speaking of Ike, does anyone else think his decision to go to ASU is like the basketball equivalent of Matt Leinart hypothetically deciding to play for John Mackovic over going to USC? Remember he was going to go to Illinois (imagine that team with Ike) but backed out to play for Evans at ASU. Not a wise move.
