not counting the three picks, frye now opting out, and coutning 6.7 for bledsoe's cap hold, are we around 34 million under the cap?

Damn, if we could somehow trade for love, his 15 million coming in, (say markieff's 3 going out, along with the 3 picks and next years laker pick)... and still be 22 million under the cap to fill out w/ a couple pieces from the gasol, monroe, deng , hayward group, that team is ready to compete to win the west.

if we can't trade for love now, i'm more than fine maybe signing one of the above, and leaving enough cap room to go after love next summer.

28M$ under the cap, more like 27.5M$

but enough to eg sign Monroe and Hayward to hard to match offer sheets.

The problem with that is that their teams can wait 3 days to match, if Bledsoe signs his offer sheet at the same time we will lose a major part of our capspace ~7M$ because we will have to match before we spent our money.

Which means that if we are planning on pursuing a RFA (I don't think we are) we need to sign them immediately.

RFA are nearly always signed immediately since there is a 2 week negotiation period before contracts can be signed.

You have to think that this could be a "loyalty" type move. Frye opts out but returns at a cheaper rate for 3-4 more years, giving the Suns more cap space to play with. He clearly loves being in PHX and has to appreciate how the Suns kept him in the loop as he was recovering from his heart condition.

I'm not a huge Frye fan but I do understand what he does for the offense. So I wouldn't be massively opposed to him returning at a discount and reduced role. I think Markieff needs a chance to start after playing really well last season.

Plus he's an important locker room presence from what I've read.

not to mention neither of them are worth anywhere near that much money.

I don't know if resigning Frye is right or wrong but I'd like to see the Suns move away from keeping the marginal good character guys. IMO they've done too much of this in the past to the detriment of the team. When you have an average player that plays hard and helps the team record a below average record you might need to go in a different direction.

Washing machines work hard...

The Suns need to improve their talent level, does spending a bunch of money on Frye and Tucker do that?

Channing Frye made it official. He won't exercise a $6.8M #Suns contract option for 2014-15. He'll be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Alright, now it's official. We cam resume complaining. :)

I'm for letting him walk and apply the salary elsewhere. The Suns can draft Adreian Payne if they want a replacement on a rookie salary.

Yay! Thank you Frye!!!

Agreed with Mainstreet...better off using that money somewhere else. Unless he's willing to take a $2M/yr deal and a bench role. He would probably get offered more elsewhere but that's fine, let someone else overpay.

I trust the Suns apply their due diligence and thoroughly check out Ed Davis. With everyone focused on KLove we might be able snag him at a reasonable price.

Tim Duncan picks up his $10.3M option. Frye opts out of $6.8M option. Interesting. I wonder which one is worth his contract.

I do wish Frye the best though.

I've heard that. But unless he comes cheap, the Suns should move on.

I do not think Frye will be a bargain. What would be a bargain, 3 years 12M? However, he just turned down 6.8M for one season so probably not. More realistic is something like 3 years 15M. Just say no, Suns.

I expect that the market for Frye will be softer than he is anticipating. He was a non-factor (or worse) in way too many games this season, and that's on a team where he should have been close to a perfect fit.

I wish him well, but the Suns really can't consider re-signing him, at any price.

Rumor has it that GS would have interest in Frye with Alvin Gentry and Steve Kerr there.

I hope we have a better option than Frye but if it turns out that Jeff and company want him back I'm okay with that too.

Ok. I think my frustration is rooted in how often you overstate your case.
C'mon, if you hadn't misquoted my opinion as wanting "tall" players, I wouldn't have responded.

Overstating infers initiating. Responding reflects someone else initiating it. In this case, you.

Your accusation is unfair. We participate to react to posts . . . and start a few.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a separate note, I wonder what the heavy blue ink is about. :)

mine's blue too. i'd say it's demarcation for all us general board ish-starters, but Chap, Eric and Slin are normal, so there goes that theory!:D
