Are there still people drinking the Skelton kool-aid?

Whatever Kolb hasn't looked that bad on his worst day! You simply were duped into believing that Skelton was good because we won 2 games against bad teams. You saw today what he is an inaccurate young QB who makes bad decisions and can't read a D. Most of the interceptions are balls that should never have been thrown!

Amen brotha!!!

Both guys stink. We're done as a winning team for at least 2-3 years. They won't use a first rounder on a QB this draft. So we're looking at 2013, which will likely be a new coaching staff which will then use a #1 on their attempt at landing a franchise QB.

So figure, if lucky, that 2014 maybe this thing starts to turn around

Oh, so the excuse for Kolb is that he is constantly facing a blitz but cant ever find an open receiver?

Interesting.

And I notice there still is no mention of what Kolb's strengths are.

Dude.... The strengths have talked about all over this board. So have the weaknesses. Your being childish. I know he has struggled.

I want him to have a full offseason that includes, mini-camps, OTA's, and a full training camp before I write him off.

AND!!!! I know you may disagree..... But our O-Line is beyond poopy. It is repulsively poopy.

WHAT ARE THEY!?!?! How am I being childish? People talked about his "strengths" back before the trade when all they saw was some highlights. But after watching the guy play and seeing his results and stats its hard to come up with what his strengths are!

The guy has been in the league 5 years and he shows less composure than 90% of the rookies out there. There are teams all over the league with QBs who didnt have OTAs, a mini camp, full training camp, ect ect and they dont stink up the joint like Kolb.

It would be one thing if Kolb was something different now than what he was in Philly but he is the EXACT SAME PLAYER from Philly! His Philly stats are the SAME as they are here! In Philly he showed no composure, in Philly he lost games despite having a lot of talent and in a system he had spent YEARS in.

Our O-line is not good, but they are not NEAR as bad as you make them out to be and they are absolutely no excuse for how horrible Kolb's decision making in the pocket has been.

Skelton looked horrible but lets not forget our QBs always suck against the 49ers, Warners last game against San Francisco 16/29 178 yards 0 TDs 2 INTs, hardly what you'd expect from him...for whatever reason the 49ers have had Whisenhunts number. He has a record of 2-7 against them.

Not excusing Skelton (he was horrible) but I really doubt we would have seen much better from Kolb--probably just more sacks.

I don't know, Skelton's INT's were, IMO, not great plays by their defense. I'm still wondering where he was trying to go.

I have to agree with Phrazbit. I have yet to see anyone, except maybe Chopper, say what makes Kolb a QB that can take us to the playoffs. All we ever hear is that he needs more time. Meanwhile his performance got worse every week.

Even more damning is that I haven't seen anything out of him that makes me think Kolb is any better than a #2 QB.

Brewster10 is right. Both guys stink and so does Bartel. It's like someone else keeps bringing up. We're back to the days of choosing between Josh McCown, Shaun King or John Navarre.

Great job of selecting and coaching the QBs Ken.

Every QB has had some "stinker" games, especially young ones. That is one of the top D's in the entire league. What did you expect? I still think he is the best QB on our roster. That might not be saying much, but it is what it is.

I agree with this. We don't know what the game plan was, if he was told to throw to Larry. In other games he hit Roberts and King before he connected with Larry. No running game at all with Beanie at half strength.

By no means am I excusing Skelton, that was some of the worst QBing I have seen in a very long time...but the 49ers just seem to beat us no matter who we have at QB since Whisenhunt has been here(with the exception of 2008). I am just saying if Kolb had been in there it would have given fuel to the anti-Kolb crowd too, none of the current Cardinals QBs would have been successful.

This was bad. Really bad. But I don't see why some of you want to rejoice in his failure today.

Skelton indeed was awful today. But our running game was not great and we do not have good second receiver. Boldin continues to be missed. The Cardinals never should have let him get away.

I stated earlier last week Skelton would throw 3 picks and he didn't disappoint. Right now our QB position is dreadful. Either Kolb has to pick it up for the rest of the season or we will be looking for another QB in the draft. Boy would I like to get Flynn from GB.

I've said all along that Skelton is most likely a career backup. If he has any chance at all it will be in year five or so. He has always been a project and will take time. I admit I was starting to feel better about him after his winning performances but today put him back into perspective.

I feel ya on Boldin but he sort of had to go. He and Fitz could not coexist on the same team.

The real mistake was letting Breaston go. He's a legitimate number two and true hustler who would have made a major difference on this team. Just another personnel mistake by the Cardinals. Shocker!

This is the most frustrating thing to me, whiz seems to be a BBQ killer. More than one promising qb has come to the desert only to disappoint. It's a pattern that implies to me there's something wrong with the way the coach is working with his signal callers.

I assume you meant QB not BBQ and yeah it is getting harder and harder to see one QB after another flame out here and not think that.

Whiz just doesn't seem to be a QB friendly coach.

Running game? How many times did we try to run the ball the first half? 4-5?

We run occasionally on first down, and we always throw on 2nd and 3rd regardless of distance..

We don't run to set up the pass. We don't pass to set up the run. We pass to set up the pass.

We've been that way since Whiz became our HC

Skelton was very bad today but all of this time off for Kolb doesn't make him good. People are forgetting. He was also bad and his second half against Baltimore was pathetic.

At this point I don't know if we have an NFL starting QB on the roster which is sad.

Seeing us get a 8 yards on run on 1st down then coming out 4-5 wide in shotgun on 2nd down certainly is getting old.

Agreed but Baltimore actually had a pretty decent pass rush against us. SF for the most part gave Skelton time to throw, he just couldn't hit the side of a barn.

I do realize teams blitz Kolb for a reason, but there's a similar reason SF didn't blitz today, as they told Billick, you don't have to he stares down Fitz so why blitz and risk giving up a big play just wait for his eyes to lead you to where he's throwing.

I go bakc to my point all along if Kolb aint the guy, the guy aint on the roster so when healthy, Kolb should play. We HAVE to find out if he's the guy or not there is no rush on Skelton he's young and doesn't make much.

I don't know if we had an elite QB that our problems would be solved. Our OTs are just awful, we don't have a #2 WR, our TEs are hurt, and our playcalling is questionable at best.

Hell look at Rivers and Vick this year vs last year. This team has issues well beyond the QB position - although it is the one position that fans obsess about. Usually becuase its easier to say that we are one player away rather than admitting that the offensive unit is a trainwreck
