Teams aren't allowed to purchase their own tickets to cause a sellout. Local businesses or the city could though.

And it's pathetic that the same stadium that has sold out many times for regular season games can't sell out a playoff game. I guess Atlanta fans aren't making up the difference like most opposition's fans do.

But, I'll fork over $65 to whoever wants to get me to the game for that price.

The Fiesta Bowl is having some of the same problems. You can get lower level tickets as low as $25 that normally sell for $135. These are 2 power houses that are playing. The economy is having an affect on everything. Hotels in town that normally get $250 and above a night this time of year are settling for $135 or less. Bottom line is tough times.

It's a nice theory, and I'm willing to listen as soon as you explain to me how the economy is less tough in Carolina and San Diego. Those fans were front and center when tickets went on sale and there weren't two extensions to squeeze them in under the wire to avoid a blackout.

It all comes down to priorities, if it's tough times in Carolina and they are going to use the little spare money they have for football tickets then obviously they value that more than those in Arizona who might be using their little spare money on other things. I cannot believe that there are 60,000 people in Arizona who can't afford to buy one set of playoff tickets.

Actually it is very easy to explain. Our economy was critically connected to the housing boom and tourism. San Diego and Carolina (north and south) were not connected to this industry to the extent that Arizona and Nevada were. San Diego also got the bigger draw with the Colts in town and will have a ton of Colts fans at their game. We won 't have the same problem with Falcons fans as they don't have any appeal here. Also the scalpers and season ticket holders who thought they would make a profit were forced to sell there tickets at cost or lower then face value as there was little market. This leads to the Cards tickets being the last to go. There was other factors such as poor play down the stretch, but bottom line people aren't spending freely right now. Economists have stated that markets such as ours are experiencing the hardest hits. As one of the many who has lost his job, I can say I wouldn't be going if my father hadn't stepped in. He said "you never know when they will make it again".

My God, give it a rest. The damn thing has been quacking and waddling around infront of your eyes for 20 years. It's a damn duck!!!!!!!!!!

Cards fans for the most part are weak in their fandom. Not you, but most others. I would say it has a lot to do with the crap product that was made available to watch in a concentration camp that was SDS for 20 years. To continue making excuses is just sad.

Then how do you explain what's happening with the Vikings? To completely disregard the recession is pretty simplistic. It isn't all "weak" Arizona fans.

The Vikings have been to 4 Super Bowls and have been to the playoffs over 20 times. Hell, I think they may have won their division 20 times. We have just won ours for the first time. Your arguement holds no water.

You are the one who said the weak fans are the reason the Cards didn't sell out and that the economy is no factor. Are Viking fans weak too, or is the economy at least partly to blame? Or do you even know what argument you are trying to make?

BTW, try to resist the urge to type in huge font. You just come across as an obnoxious a-hole.

My point was that the Vikes are a team who is routinely in the playoffs, thus making less of a big deal to their fans. How many Viking fans in Minny do you think haven't been to a playoff game or had numerous opportunities to go to one?

In a way, you are making his argument for him.

With all that Viking success and their fans still aren't loyal enough to sell-out playoff games?

As for the Cardinals, look at the past 2 months: This town has 0 trust and 0 loyalty to this team because they've never been any good. Then all of the sudden the Cardinals are 7-3 and a lock to win the divison. People start thinking; 'hey, I'm gonna start watching the Cardinals, heck, lets get some tickets to the Giants game!'.

The Cardinals took that little bit of trust and belief the the town began to have in them and SLEDGE HAMMERED IT GALLAGER STYLE by getting Beat at home by the Giants, Getting KILLED on national TV on Thanksgiving day by the Eagles, beating the Rams at home in very un-impressive fashion, then getting completely humiliated by the Vikings and Pats before finally beating the Seahawks to eek out a winning season.

And you think that performance should have inspired Cardinal fever?

The loyalist like US are always going to be there, but given the economy, the time of year (holidays) and everything else that's happened over the past 20 years, I cant really hold it against the casual AZ observer if they dont exactly think we're going to the SuperBowl.

It can all be erased by beating Atlanta. ONE home playoff win and this town will go Cardinal crazy!

Respect is earned not given, the Cards still have a long way to go to earn the belief and respect of this city.

That's just how I see it.

It would be cool if people would stop blasting our fan base the night before a playoff game.

Peace* and go Cardinals!

It would also be cool if our fan base would stop blasting the team and support them.

Again for the 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 time, I understand why the fan base sucks. It is because Bidwill put a crap team on a crap field for twenty years. I am not blaming the fans for not being supportive, I was just stating that they weren't supportive. Believe it or not, I think your post just proved that you agree with me.

If that is true then so are Ohio State fans and Texas fans as great tickets can be had for the Fiesta Bowl for below face value. If 2 of the best college teams in the nation are showing little interest, I guess there fandom is weak as well. That blows a huge hole in your crap product theory. The regular season sold out, the only difference now is timing and an even worse economy. Take a microeconomics course and it might open your eyes, the demand in this case is elastic, it will be the first term they teach you.

P.S Go Cards we need this one.

Darnell Docket agrees with the Cards fan from Maryland LMAO......

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/133514

Defensive tackle Darnell Dockett doesn't believe the Cardinals will ever be the prom king. In fact, Dockett turned questions about Arizona's new-found popularity into a rant against the team's fans.

"I know how they are," Dockett said. "They love you one minute and hate you the next. Honestly, I don't think we have a big fan base. Anytime another team can come on the road and fill half the stadium with their fans, that ain't a good fan base.

"I think we got one of the weakest fan bases in football. ... We're the type of team where I wouldn't be surprised if (our fans) sold their tickets on eBay to Atlanta fans. That's all you got to know about our fans. They're with you on the highs but they're not with you on the lows."

and the truth shall set you free....

Honestly though, nobody on this board should take any offense to what Dockett or I said. The true fans who sat through 115 heat in an aluminum tray supporting the bad news bears for 18years (or the kid all by his lonesome in md getting teased relentlessly by his buddies as their Redskins, Raven and Cowblowers won SBs :) ) are the most hardcore fans alive. Tomorrow you guys need to go to all out lunatic mode in that stadium.
