Amazing the love you guys have for Romar. If the guy does nothing and is just a name that is one thing. But there will be a lot of people cheering for that hire: Washington fans.

UW fans would be idiots to cheer for Romar to be an assistant within the division. Who could negatively recruit UW better than anyone? Who could seemingly impact the new coach's ability to recruit within the Pacific North West? Romar would come here to do what he is best at, and that's recruiting. He also has a NC as an assistant when he was with UCLA.

I don't understand your reservations. He's not coming to be head coach.

Yeah if he brings Davis and Nowell with him it's great, if he somehow gets Porter, it's Calipari leaving Memphis for UK

Davis committed to Stanford this afternoon. Nowell isn't a PG and Romar probably doesn't recruit him somewhere else out of respect to Washington.

I didn't realize Romar was an assistant when UCLA won their last title. Romar and Lavin must've been Gods on the recruiting trail together.

Sorry but you're misinformed. I guarantee Oregon and UCLA fans aren't rooting for this to happen.

His job will be recruiting moreso than coaching. He developes guards pretty well too.
Misinformed? Says who? You? It's not like I am close with a Washington bball fanatic. Oh wait, I am. Where is your source to accuse me of being "misinformed"?

He doesn't NEED to recruit. We don't need that. We need someone that can coach the offense. Romar can't do that.

You said UW fans are rooting for this. I just think they're lying if they say that. Same with Oregon/UCLA and everyone else.

Romar has nearly half of Washington's tournament appearances in their history and they were consistently finishing top-3 in the conference for a decent stretch. He fell off pretty hard last year but still recruits well and puts guys in the league every year. You can never have too many recruiters especially with Miller's inability to land a PG recently.

The main I reason I'd like the hire because his coaching demeanor is the opposite of Miller who is intense. Even Pasternak was getting into with ASU players during games. I feel like there needs to be a calming presence on the staff.

Some UA sites are saying David Grace is a candidate Miller is looking at too. I can see the idea, get recruits and hurt UCLA's recruiting but it's itneresting. With UCLA going Under Armour it's not clear the Compton Magic and Adidas stuff is as important so they might be better equipped to lose Grace.

We'll see he did coach in HS and AAU in Arizona, he's not moving up at UCLA so maybe he thinks he can get an HC job if he coaches for Miller. Doubt it happens but interesting to see his name mentioned.

Apparently once Pasternack gets introduced at UCSB things will go forward with Romar. I threw this out there as a shot in the dark and now the Scout guys are saying it would be a major upset for it not to happen.

Apparently, Grace was trash talking Arizona players last year, and coaches weren't exactly happy with it. Grace is not coming to Arizona. At this point, it's Romar or bust. The only sticking point would be compensation, but Washington still owes him $3.2 million.

Not one person on the Arizona staff would even talk to grace, let alone hire the douche.

Gershon is saying barring a surprise it will be Romar.

As long as he's realistic not a bad idea. I mentioned here awhile back there were rumors he was going to leave but I thought that meant transfer not go pro. I don't think he's leaving so testing at the NBA level makes sense.

Anigbogu just did the same thing but it's pretty clear he intends on leaving, the without an agent seemed thrown in at the end and he's projected quite a bit higher than Comanche so completely understandable to go pro.

Seems like the kind of situation where he knew he was one and done before stepping foot on campus. Miller took him anyway which you pretty much have to do.

Surprised there's nothing on Trier yet. Apparently he's pretty close wi Romar from his time in Seattle.

UA sites reporting the Daniels rumor as true now Miller confirmed Simmons will declare and sounds like he intends to hire an agent.

Alkins and Trier are supposed to declare without agents. My guess is Trier goes, Alkins stays. I'd rather have Alkins than Simmons, better player, less upside but better now IMO.

This stuff is getting crazy. Drew Eubanks of OSU declared and his dad said while they're not immediately hiring an agent, his intention is to stay in the draft as long as he can with the full intent to make the NBA. That is unless someone hits him over the head with a big sign that says go back to school dummy, he's staying in the draft.

A lot of dreams are going to be shattered on draft night.

There's a rumor going around that Comanche has not been going to class but nothing confirmed. I really thought he could've made a huge leap the upcoming season but you may be right about some drama with him over the past year. If he pulls a Jarrett and bolts it could open things back up for McCoy.

These kids just don't learn from watching the kids who declare in prior years and fail miserably. So sad. And dumb.

Seems like the whole conference is declaring. USC has Aaron and Boatright in without an agent and Metu is declaring today supposedly, again no agent. All 3 want to leave, USC fans think at most 1 comes back. Aaron apparently believes they promised O'Bannon PT so he's gone. Most think Metu is the only one who might come back, good student.

I get the idea of declaring to test but it seems lots of kids are now just throwing in the towel and saying I'll play overseas, why not get the degree first if you're going to do that?

At the same time if you're never going to make the NBA anyways might as well start making money overseas and maximize your playing years.

True and I'm probably overstating the value of a degree with some of these kids. Some of these kids are just not real students so getting a degree is not really going to be much impact on their career.

Yeah but unless UA is still in the running for McCoy, Chance would be starting next year. He has a good year, his draft stock could rise. Maybe he doesn't want to put the work in.

He doesn't like school, which is why he was suspended at the beginning of the year: skipping classes. I actually think there's a good chance that Chance is gone. Bad choice, as he could be a pro player by his 4th year, but it is what it is

He's probably not getting the best advice either. Nobody really likes going to class but if a potential professional basketball career depended on developing for another year or two to have a shot at being drafted you power through it.

At least you have Ristic coming back if Ayton gets hurt or ends up in foul trouble. Lee and Pinder can play the 4 and be active enough to make an impact. Or Miller could go super small with Trier at SF and Alkins at PF playing with Ayton.

Apparently Romar will be official next week after the 10day window of the job being posted is over. He needs to get working on 2018 PG's.

Looking like there could be a max exodus. Now Rawle has officially declared but hasn't hired an agent so Alkins, Trier and Comanche are on the fence and Kadeem is done.

It's either Duval/McCoy/Bowen or grad transfer time.
