Ok let's start this fight again. I'm getting the S.F. feed. They just showed JD's 4 home run game and said it was the "first" time a player had more home runs than the other team had hits??????????? They said it twice.
Check out the Baseball Almanac, guys. Lineups for both teams for each of the 4 HR games. I don't know where the S.F. announcers get their information. Perhaps ex-Giant Bob Brenly should play the Beatles song for them, "I should have known better". :)

I looked at the box scores of the first ten of the 4HR games as they were listed, and in none of the cases did they have more HR's than the opponent had hits. I checked all 6 in the A.L. and 4 out of 12 in the N.L. In ten of the 18 total 4 HR games, the losing team scored six or more runs. 'Difficult to do on three hits or less.

Boy, am I embarrassed! I looked at the other 4 HR games to see how many hits the opposing teams had and stopped at the first ten.

I should have looked at how few, not how many, hits the opponents had. It is true that JD's 4 HR's came in a game where the opponents had three hits and none of the others on the list saw their opponents get three hits or less.

The Giants announcers were right. I guess I'll have to sing, "I should have known better." :)

The heck if I know. I just found it odd they said it too. They all said it like he was the only one to have more HR's than hits in any game. We know that's not right. The ESPN link cleared it up. I guess it did.

We win again and that's all that matters.
