I definitely lean to the koolaid side even though this franchise makes it tough to stay positive. I've gone down the darkside path but I just got tired of being miserable so I made a conscious choice to try and put the best face on everything. I certainly understand why many of you can't do that.
If you listen to some of the darksiders, they maintain they're just the offset to the rah rah group. I look around though and I really don't see that balance. I see people that are cautiously optimistic and I see people that have serious doubts but I also see people that are convinced this franchise will never, under any circumstances, do the right thing (intentionally).
That means we have a lot of people in the middle (left and right of the line) but we also have a fair number of people at the far end of the negative side with little or nothing at the other end of the spectrum. I understand the people in the middle (that, by far, is most of us) but I too tire of the very small group that blasts this organization for every move, always taking the dimmest interpretation of each action by Whiz, Graves or the Bidwills.
For those of us that are just trying to be hopeful, the extreme negativity sometimes feels like a concerted effort to dash our hopes. After awhile, someone on the hopeful side of the fence starts feeling like they've been mugged so they fire a shotgun blast in the general direction of the darksiders. And then, someone from the darkside will take it personally (granted, it often is intended that way) and off we go. More often than not, the real extremists aren't even involved in the flareup, they've just set the stage for the drama that follows.
I don't know if there's a solution for this, it's pretty much just life on a message board. I think we've all seen it worse at other places and it's been worse here too. It stands out more this offseason because, to many of us, it actually feels like this organization made a real effort this offseason.
Oh, well, it is what it is (whatever that means). I'd suggest a group hug but I'm pretty sure at least two of the dark-siders are pick-pockets.
