Thanks for reminding all us that we are a cardinal family. We may may agree to disagree, but we all, every one of love our cardinals

im tired of reading all this lovey dovey kiss and makeup crap and am going to PM a moderator to have it stopped!!

Chris, you have displayed exactly what needs to be done by backing off of your own bad posts and we should all just likely do the same. I do feel the reason for the thread was a poster crying wolf but the point is deserved.
I disagree on that one; the poster wasn't public about it, didn't ask Chris to make a thread...just quietly sent a PM asking for their account to be deleted. No big "I'm totally out" drama.

Chris was concerned with why, read some, and saw the poster's point. He took it upon himself as a moderator to do something about it.

And good for him. I've been avoiding the Cards board lately because of all the incessant, going nowhere bickering. Bleh.

Go spend a week on the AZCardinals board... you will come running back and high fiving the darksiders on the way......

Again, just not having every thread degenerate into an argument about ML or who is right, the players or the owners has improved the board 199%.

As one of the posters who has expressed an opinion that I am sure many view as negative, let me say here and now, that I am entitled to that opinion. Yes, I wrote that the Front Office stopped short of doing all that they said they would do. Yes, I wrote that they took ques from the head coach that, (he would rather wait and see how things went before they went after anyone else). They have for years, been content to go on the cheap, or to act too slowly to achieve a really positive outcome, or to stop just short of doing what is needed. This is precisely the reason that the owners placed a floor to the salary cap. For years now, the more successful owners have been forced to share their earnings with those not so successful, while the latter group, (of which the Cardinals are a recipient), continue to hoard prospective salary money away. This is exactly what has always caused this franchise to be on the outside looking in, (or in the cellar, looking up).

If you are going to fault me for that, then how do you stand when I posted that I would like to be the first to congratulate the same front office for the great work that they did in signing 51 players in a 5 day period. It seems to me that both of my opinions of the front office were correct, and both were appropriate at the time. Am I not entitled to my opinion? Or is it just that if my opinion reflects badly on the organization, that I must keep it to myself?

I have posted nearly 2000 time on this board, and while they were not all positive posts, the majority were certainly not negative. I have expressed my opinions, (positive and negative), based upon factual incidences whether positive or negative, and had always strived to include argument to justify my position on the matter posted about. I am not just a post-padder who is content to simply add a +1, or a thumbs up, to a previous post in order to get my count up.

I feel like I am being singled out by one of the moderators, (along with Mitch), and I will state unaquivically that I don't like it in the least. Mitch can, (and I am sure will), speak for himself. This is not moderation, this is censorship, (or at least an attempt at it). It is quite one thing to enforce one of the written rules of this forum, such as the use of certain words which are forbidden. It is an entirely different matter to threaten a poster, because his or her opinion differs from the majority of the board.

Chris Sanders is wrong in this matter, moderator or not. Many things can be moderated, but how one FEELS about a topic is not something that can be treated by moderating it out of existence. That is an out and out violation of my first amendment rights, and I will not just idly sit by and allow that to happen.

Chris, I understand that you have a job to do, and that it is an important one. But you have overstepped your bounds, and wandered into an area that you have no legal basis to tread in. I have NEVER written anything here on this board that I did not believe to be factual. I have ALWAYS tried to justify any position that I have stated with information that, (in my opinion), backed up my argument. That is what a forum is intended for. To be able to discuss opinions both pro and con. When that process is threatened, then this is no longer a forum, but simply a place in which to express the organization's opinion only. Catfish

Wow. Did anyone single you out? I was pretty sure I read all the posts in this thread, and didn't see anyone singled out (other than Chris, ironically, which he owned up to).

You have no 1st amendment rights here; this isn't a public place. This is a privately owned forum. "No legal basis to tread in"? Really?

I try to be civil as much as I can..but I have to say, get over yourself.

edit: searched for "catfish" in this thread and found exactly 2 posts. Yours & this one.

No one ever said you weren't entitled to your opinion, whether it be negative or positive. And no one has singled you out. Sanders isn't trying to moderate ANY sort of opinion. Here is the original post ....

Hi Everyone,

I have had a long time poster ask me to delete their account because they felt the board was unreadable right now.

I really haven't been here for a week, but I definitely see what the poster was saying. A lot of these threads are being carpet bombed by people who are only adding negativity.

Obviously everyone has the right to their opinion and can voice them. However, this board is supposed to be a refuge for Cardinals fans. Instead we are kind of eating our own.

Please remember that you don't have to "win" the discussion. I don't like to see our community shrinking. Any long time poster coming to me privately to say they are done with ASFN is concerning. This isn't an issue where someone is looking for attention or sympathy, they would just rather go elsewhere.

He, too, is entitled to his opinion.

Sorry Catfish but your 1st Ammendment arguement wont go anywhere here. When I cant carry my pistol into Outback, or an Airplane is the same reason you cant say whatever you want here. Its a private owned board. Not a public street. Chris just doesn't want people slamming each other, he has said 15 times you can have a negative outlook, just no personal attacks. If you feel you are being singled out, take it to a PM and get it resolved.

I hate to ruin a good rant but you might have been one of the last posters I would think of in this instance.

You pretty much say your peace, move on, and leave out the insults. :raccoon:

I am surprised by two things:

#1. The amount of PMs I have received on this. (pretty much Mulli PMs me and the occasional P&R thing)

#2. A couple of them have been wanting to move on as well for the same reasons. :(

I want to be clear I don't have the ability to delete accounts. I don't even know if it can be done. That is a question for an admin.

I am just someone who cares a lot about this board, it's members, and the Cardinals.

I considered locking it but that would seem heavy handed. Maybe everyone needs a good vent. Besides I have learned some things from this thread as well.

Thank you for your consideration to alieve my concerns. I have never been one to use insults or name calling. I did feel that a handful of us had been singled out, (myself included). I apologize if I am wrong about that, to the board, and especially to you Chris. I do enjoy coming to this forum and engaging in it. I am a Cardinals fan, but I don't always see eye to eye with the organization. Who the heck could see eye to eye with an organization as dysfunctional as this one has been, but then that too is part of the mystique of being a long-time Cardinal's fan. Thank you for relieving my concerns.

The people who are saying " oh if you dissent with the team, then your seen as the bad guy" need to understand something. No one on this board is always happy about every move. The point is you are NEVER HAPPY ABOUT ANYTHING. I know i am alot more Kool-aid then Darksider, but i absolutely loathe Rod Graves. I just dont make it the focus of every topic. the negativity from many (and who this thread is directed at) isn't occasional and with some the vast majority of the time it's like your pissed off in life and need to come to the board as your form of kicking the dog.

And all of the overly negative posters have their different styles of negativity - some are just contrarian to be contrarian, some are "aw shucks!- it's amazing how bad we are!", some are intellectual cynics, some just pick a central figure for their negativity (i.e. Wiz or Graves) and spin every topic back to that figure (these posters are the pits and really lack all creativity), and some are just bipolar going from one extreme to the other. but the common theme is that nothing is ever enough or no move doesn't come with a qualifier.

I actually am okay with K9, but Im not sure I have ever heard him just say something good.....without qualifying it with 4 or 5 bad things. For example his thread "The good, the bad, the ugly" .....I mean he listed like 3 good things and 10 bad things and ugly things. And this is the best Cardinals offseason in recent memory when looking at the the draft, trades, and FA!!!

Listen I certaintly don't think we need to have this board be all sunshine and lollipops. He'll I know we just had a TERRIBLE season so ALOT of the angst is somewhat justified.

But the people I consider the best posters - Pariah, Donald, Russ Smith, Spck Shane, Mao, TJ, ASUChris, Krang to name just a few - are FAIR. And when they say something sucks, I tend to listen more. We should all strive to be balanced and moderate in our opinions on this board and not be Pollyanas but also self aware enough to realize when you are being caustic and maybe going overboard on the cynicism.

Because at the end of the day, the posters I listed above are not ALWAYS
happy or joyous in their opinion.....but at the end of the day I know they are fans of the team.

And that's the point of a Arizona Cardinals Message Board right?

really? so the other side can continue to be jerks and tell people they should go root for another team and get lost? good to know, because that's what you just agreed to.

the negative people aren't being jerks... THEY'RE USING FACTS. People don't like those facts and end up being JERKS back. THAT'S the issue chris. how you don't see that is beyond me.

Cheese the FACTS are just like with everything in life there is some bad and some good...... You just like to talk about the BAD facts a lot more then you care to talk about the good ones lol.

I will say you are not ALWAYS negative like some others. It just takes ALOT for you to look on the bright side. :)

so in a thread asking for civil discourse, you've insulted large swaths of people by calling them: "bipolar", "the pits" and others as "miserable with their life and take it out on here" and then questioned their fandom putting them at odds with posters you like who are fair, because at least with those guys, "at the end of the day, you know the posters you listed are FANS OF THE TEAM" as if the other people you mentioned... who knows?

kudos for insulting groups of people with names, and then questioning their fandom. rock on making the board a better place Finest. jesus.

Name one guy who is "always" negative. I don't know of any on here. We had a high rush, then it was crashing, like others have said, sounds about normal. I might be a different dude with our recent D injuries, faced with say...Orton at QB (this is not an invite for another Orton discussion), without no change at DC. But like everybody else it's looking like we have to see what's on the field.

Ahhh the irony. I think its funny that there are 12 pages of people trying to "win" this argument in a thread which was started simply ask people to stop spamming arguments in an attempt to "win"

I get what Chris was saying. If you wanna be happy about a move then great, if you dont like a move, then great, but there's really no need to go around and spam every thread on the board with the same repetitive opinion.

Just like the people arguing in this thread, go back and read how many times you keep posting in an effort to get "the last word" or to "Win" the thread and ask yourselves who is crying out for attention.

PS Desertdawg likes old men.
