Ayton sorta sucks

I think every one he would like to see something like that happen, whether Ayton is selected or not. Draft the best big available with the 1st pick and package the later picks to try and get Young, Sexton, or Shai around 9 or 10. I think everyone here would be elated if the Suns left the draft with Ayton and Young without giving up a player or one of their own future picks.

I'd still be elated even if it cost us a future pick (Miami preferably) and although I like Warren I'd even be fine if it took TJ to make it happen.

I'm fine with trading the Miami pick, I was mainly saying a pick of their own. Unless they had good protection on it, I don't want to see the Suns trade one of their own picks. The Miami pick is a bonus, of sorts, to use in a future deal.

I really worry about the Sexton to Bledsoe comparisons not to mention his high turnover to assist ratio. Young turns it over a lot too but Sexton is averaging slightly more than 5 fewer assists per game than Trae. But I do love Collin's ability to draw fouls. It would be nice if we could swap this year's Miami and Milwaukee picks for Sexton but I wouldn't want to go any higher for him.

If by chance we get Ayton, wouldn't it be a great move to trade the 15th and 16th pick (if we land there) to move up to a point guard, around number 10? We could actually forget the tank discussion.

Yes we’ve drooled over that possibility all season. The problem is the talent seems to drop off considerably at 13. So someone has to really like a bunch more prospects to make that deal with us.

I could easily see our draft playing out as Bagley, Shai and Brandon McCoy. But I seem to be higher on McCoy than most.

He got better with jump balls as the season went on. Part of the problem was Pac-12 refs suck at everything, including throwing up the ball. For real, it looked like some of them had never done it before. I think he will be a beast in all facets but he is of course still developing in some areas.

You're not kidding about refs and jump balls. Earlier this year I saw a comment from Dana Altman that said one of the reasons he wasn't starting Kenny Wooten any more is that the refs were so bad at throwing the ball up to start the game, there was no advantage to having Wooten jump center. More than half of their games were started with a toss that was so bad the refs should have redone it, but never did. Wooten is one of those athletic freak kids like Jordan Bell who just jumps out of the gym, beginning of the year they would start him and then pull him at the first dead ball, but Altman stopped doing it for that reason and foul trouble with the kid.

I love Ayton's upside. If the most negative thing I can say about a kid is I can't figure out why he loses so many jump balls, that tells you the kid is pretty damn good.

Yesterday the #1 pick in the draft at one point was 4-15 against a squad of nobodies for 10 points, 6 rebounds, and fouled out.

You can say that offense didn't get him the ball but I am courtside watching him lead his team in shots and just played weak.

Again tonight I am at the arena (and bet heavy ok u of a) and he got tons of touches and just didn't play well to the end.

I have watched him play on TV but it is difficult to focus on him on TV. Thinking he is our pick I am admittedly looking at him from a critical standpoint

If Ayton were playing, scoring and rebounding it would be make me happier.

He was never billed as an instant cure. Big men take longer to develop.

Hindsight is 20/20. No one on this board (even the one's like me that were pro Doncic) thought he would be as good as he already is. Also while he was the best player in the Euroleague he was still only putting up like 17/5/5 per game. We are also suffering from not being able to see our guy play right now and I think impatience is making people jump the gun on the whole "we made a mistake" angle. Sure it's looking pretty likely that we took the wrong guy, but it is still too early to know that for sure. We will actually have to see Ayton play some extended games to be sure and likely need to see how he plays through the remainder of his rookie contract.
