Just responding in kind.

Claiming Blanks job performance is worse than a trained monkey is constructive? Logical?

Or hyperbole and emotional response?

You're not exactly putting forth any positives about Blank's job performance. I have plenty of negatives that I've mentioned--you've vilified me for that without offering any counter-arguments other than I'm illogical for thinking that Barkley would be better. And for the record, I didn't say a lot better.

I am not vilifying anyone.

I haven't seen anything that Blanks has done that would generate the assessment of his job performance that I have seen from you. All I see is emotional rhetoric and hyperbole.

I have also not seen anything from Barkley that would lead me to believe he has the ability to perform the in-depth analysis and sustained effort that a GM job requires. He doesn't even seem prepared for his announcer job but he is supposed to be able to run a franchise?

Then the question is, what HAVE you seen from Lance Blanks, and why does that either support him staying or support him leaving? And I'm not the only one that assesses his job performance in this way. We've been discussing this since well before Christmas.

And I think it's ridiculous to speculate that his current role as a talking head would spill over into his role as a GM.

Charles has a history of reacting without thinking, of talking without thinking. I think it's ridiculous to put him in a position of responsibility given his history and I think it's ridiculous to not expect his behavior to continue unabated as it has throughout his adult life. I have no proof but I'd wager my house against a pair of used slippers that TNT has censured him on more than one occasion.

He's a huge draw but he's a dangerous buffoon with a microphone and he's made sexist and racist comments many times on the air. Almost anyone else would have lost his job and been relegated to the history pages for them. In fact, I can't think of any single person who could have made the degrading comments he did a year or two ago about women and survived them. The man is a loose cannon, IMO.

Can it get worse? Yes. Barkley would make Blanks and MJ look like geniuses.

Can't believe this is a serious thought by anyone.

you know the Suns have officially hit a new low when what I thought was a joke thread is actually something completely serious.

guys, Barkley as GM would be an epic disaster. Better then Blanks? hell... I don't even know and I think Blanks is the Suns version of Rod Graves (and for the non-cardinals fans... that ain't good).

he'd make a complete shammockery out of what's already a mockery with the Suns. and this is coming from someone who's favorite player of all time is Barkley.

I would consider Blanks average at best so far. The best move he made was to undo the mistake made the summer before he arrived and get Gortat for Hedo.

His worst move was probably the trade for Brooks. While I didn't like this move at the time I at least understood why they did it.

Some people still seem to think he has been on the job for 3 years or more. In reality it is about 2 years and he hasn't done anything to make me think of him as an idiot. He seems to have been very calculating and measured in his approach to try and clean up this roster that is suffering from years of mis-management under Sarver all before he arrived. He hasn't made a trade for an overpaid Rudy Gay. He hasn't given up draft picks for Shumpert.

I see some moves that can be considered a reach and some changes that could have been handled better but I don't see any major mis-management or gaffes that makes me question his sanity or basic intelligence.

While I like Charles Barkley as a television personality and a former player I sometimes question both his intelligence and his sanity.

I enjoy Charles on the air though sometimes he's an embarrassment. As was his defense when he played for us.

His knowledge of basketball is shallow and his work ethic is non-existent. He loves being in the limelight and clowning around - and that's probably the closest thing he has to a qualification for the job. He almost certainly lives in Phoenix because of golf, not to be close the Suns.

Well, he'd probably make Blanks look good and make Hunter look overqualified but as someone said he might cause Sarver to bail.

Seriously, can it get any worse??
That is the saddest part! The buffoonery of the Chuckster as GM and the adolescent personality of Thunder Dan as Head Coach might be the only move outrageous enough to shake the Suns out of their doldrums.

To continue the current path will only extend the mediocrity.

I never thought I'd say this, but why not give Barkley and Majerle two-year contracts, let them take the starch out of the collars of the Suns and their wuss reputation, build some toughness into the team and the front office and, if it doesn't work, not re-sign them. They'd probably want to move on anyway if it wasn't fun.

Yup, considering the Chuckster and Thunder Dan as a ray of sunshine is the saddest part!

BC. I love you, but this is about the stupidest idea I have ever heard. This is right there with "have an affair with another woman and make your wife jealous. Then she'll give you the attention you want."

Then I wish SOMEONE would come up with something better. Business as usual isn't cutting it. At least Barkley and Majerle want to be a part of this mess and try fixing it. If they don't, big deal. Nothing is being done now, so what's the harm? Making the team a laughing stock? HAHAHA That's already happened.

Thanks for the love. It is the stupidest idea. But I posted it because it pains me to see the Suns wallow in mediocrity year after year. If it would work, cool. If not, what would we lose?

BTW, both the GM and the Head Coach should each have an Assistant to do everything from negotiating to paperwork while the figureheads breathe some life into the franchise.

And hey, if the irreverent Charles Barkley forces $arver to throw his hands in the air and sell the team, it would have been worth it.

And, for the record, I don't advocate spouses or mates cheating on each other under any circumstances.

Really? Hire a horrendous GM because it might cause the owner to sell? Really? Is this really a serious discussion? Has the world lost its mind?

How about hiring a strong, competent GM that will actually run the team and keep the owner in the shadows.

What GM, except an outrageous one, would have the power to keep the owner from micro-managing or sitting in the spotlight behind the bench with his foam finger?

How many people wanted this team to tank? Now they're tanking. I am not sure how else it was supposed to look. How do you tank and make it look like you are not tanking? Hire a coach who is inexperienced, and is good at developing young guys. Fire the coach who wants to play the vets and ignore the future so he can win every game now.

Check.

Now, I admit, I have not confidence in Blanks as a personnel evaluator. The easiest solution on that front would be for Sarver to go sit down with JC and give him some suggestions. Babby has been fine by me. I like the fact that he doesn't give away the farm in trades ala Kerr. Give him credit for the deals he has NOT done (like Shumpert and others. What we got for Nash was near highway robbery.

Yikes. I hope Sarver doesn't read this board, or that idiot Bickley for that matter.

Remember a few years ago when Barkley got arrested for DUI in Scottsdale. He reportedly told police that he was just driving across the way to get a *******. That guy can't be our GM.

Maybe Sarver should get one. I wonder if he would take his foam finger. :D

Barkley parties harder than I do, you often see him in the halftime show still hungover from the day before....and I'm talking night games, that's just crazy. Barkely as GM would be hilarious, I don't think he would do a great job but he would be funnier than hell. He's gotta kush job, just gets to kick back and bust on people. But between the gambling, booze, the loose woman, and whatever else he is on or smoking, I'm still all for it. :D

May not be a fan of the guy for his arrogance but at least, he knows basketball and knows how to talk it for someone that has played it like forever and been an sportscaster there on TNT!

So that would be a good job since he knows what he is talking about! Who knows what will happen if he does take the job!

Well, at least if Sarver were to low-ball him on salary and push him out the door, Barkley's comments would be one for the record books.
