Leander mentioned on the telecast last night that the Wolves have not been able to draft and cultivate young talent since 1999 because of teh Joe Smith debacle. This got me thinking that draft picks would be very enticing to them. Combine that with their poor performance which they don't seem to be able to shake, is there anyone on that team that could be had in trade?

From what I saw, I like Eddie Griffin and Anthony Carter, but I don't think Griffin would be moved. He is young (albeit misguided) talent, but I think he would fit beautifully on this team as a backup. He can hit the 3 and block shots and board pretty well. He could relieve Shawn and Stat. Carter would obviously be a good backup PG because he can play some D and he's used to the backup role. He's a vet who can give us some second string stability.

What do you guys think about these acquisitions?

Are there any other teams that could use blowing up? Denver? Golden State? Portland?

I don't think there's any way Kevin McHale is going to "blow up" the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin Garnett would almost certainly raise a stink about it because he is possibly the best player in the NBA in his prime. He wants to compete for a championship not spend a couple of years in the draft lottery as a bad to mediocre team. I do think they will end of making some big changes, but I doubt they'll be making moves for draft picks and extremely young players.

BTW the Denver Nuggets aren't going to blow up their team either. They really only need a good shooting guard and some time with their new coach. I'm not a big fan of George Karl, but he was doing well with them until last night's narrow loss to Portland. I have stated before, and I still believe that one of the worst things that could happen to the Phoenix Suns would be for the Denver Nuggets to barely make the playoffs and get the Suns in the first round.

I agree, Griffin is a relapse waiting to happen. Let someone else hold their breath on that one.

My guess is that the Wolves somehow make a trade for Kidd before the start of next season.
