Years ago, Phoenix got the right to Vujanic, who was a very good player in Europe. He kept postponing going to the NBA, and then suffered a bad injury. "Trading rights to Vujanic" became a running joke for many years, even after his career-limiting injury.

Thanks. I googled him and saw that he was part of a big trade with New York but I couldn't see any connection to the current situation. I guess he's suggesting I'm the start of a bunch of trade Bogdan suggestions. Could be, especially with Booker showing so well.

Eric is a far more humorous guy than people think- he is just making a joke. There is no connection than a reference to something that was a running joke around here for many years. Obviously, the two situations are completely different, as Bogdan actually wants to play in the NBA. He's angling for a Mirotic-type contract and not a small, rookie contract. There is also an issue of career-limiting/ ending injury Vujanic suffered, where the joke kept going even though Milos' career was obviously over. It was one of those stupid jokes that ended up becoming funny at some point.

I'd not trade him until we get a good look at him. The kid is a cross between Goodwin and Booker. He has no fear, he can get to the hoop, and he can shoot (though not nearly as well as Booker). On top of that, the kid is just nasty. He'll dunk on someone, pound his chest, insult the guy he dunked on, and look at the opposing team's bench. He's not a bad defender either (by Euro standards anyway.) I wouldn't trade him for a non-lottery pick.

Ah, the connection to Milos Vujanic is starting to come full circle, just as I predicted. Soon, including "the rights to Bogdan" in trade scenarios will become this generation's running joke.

You and I are too old. I think many on this board are going to ask "who is Milos?"

Edit" ah, yes. I see. it happened.

By the way. I would trade the rights to Bogdan easily if it helps get us a player we really want. Who knows whether he will be productive. Look at Weems. Bird in the hand.

I suspect I'm older than you but I was working long hours until I retired 5 years ago. I remember the trade and I vaguely remember the player's name but I was very hit and miss on this board until I retired.

Bogdan could be a late lottery pick in this years draft imo. The Suns would be making a big mistake if they treated him as a throw-in for some trade.

Throw me into the too old group since I knew that reference too. Sigh.

There is the old group, and there is the really old group.

If you know who the Needle is or what a "floor score" means, you are in the really old group.

I have no idea who the Needle is or what a floor score is. Unless maybe floor score refers to the number of times Ronnie Lee dove for a ball?

Obviously, the two situations are completely different

I'm not so sure. I don't follow Euro ball and don't claim to have a sense of which players really aspire to come to the NBA and which just have it idly in the back of their minds. Tiago Splitter chickened out on the NBA so many times that I predicted he would never actually do it (which proved out to be wrong) and that, even if he did, he would not be an impact player (which proved to be correct).

This board was very excited about Vujanic when the Suns first acquired his rights. People proudly laid out their projected rotations, three-deep, with Vujanic slotted in as part of the future. Gradually it started to seem that he might not come to the NBA at all, and so this board -- which, on the whole, has a perpetual "Buy high, Sell low" philosophy -- decided that maybe it would be better instead to trade his rights. Even before he got hurt, Vujanic's prospects for coming to the NBA got dimmer and dimmer, which increased the chatter of how the Suns might salvage anything of value from their ownership of him. And then, yes, as SirStefan said, the jokes continued once Vujanic's career was over.

So far, the Bogdanovic situation is a perfect match.

No it is not, did Vujacic constantly text with the Suns GM? no

Did Vujacic come to Phoenix ? Bogdanovic was in Phoenix last offseason and went to the Dbacks with McD.

Was Vujacic a first round pick? no

Did Vujacic specifically sign a contract with a NBA buyout?

I guess if you are doing a list. I remember seeing an excited Bogdan in attendance at the 2014 NBA draft.

I remember dreaming of lineups which included Milos, DJ Strawberry, Lampe, that thin euro who broke his arm by a thug (can't remember his name - anyone?) (possibly some years prior).

Biggest loss though has to be Dumas and Oliver Miller.

I guess I am not in the really old group yet as I have no idea what those are unless I have totally forgotten about them.

Alvin Scott was the "Needle"
And Al McCoy kept a running tally of every time Ronnie Lee went to the floor after a loose ball etc. I can't believe I remember this, but the number one season was 241 times in 41 home games.

So. Bogdanic hits another game winner. He has three game winners this year from distance or extreme distance. He certainly likes taking the big shot. He does travel on the last two plays. Not sure why refs don't call it when players shuffle their feel like that.

I think it would be huge if Ryan McDonough could negotiate a buyout for Bogdan and bring him over next season. As far as one can tell, he looks like he can play in the NBA. I understand he plays with confidence which I like in a player.

Bogdan is playing out of his mind in this series with Real Madrid. The series is now 3-1.

Real Madrid boasts 4 former NBA players (Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Rodriguiz, Andres Nicioni, and Gustavo Ayon).

I want the Suns to bring him over next season in the worst way.

He plays so smooth like he is in slow motion. He can dribble, drive and shoot with either hand. It's effortless.
