Long time no see, made it in time for pre season eh? :)

Indeed! Addition of Chandler and curiosity about Len brought me back. We'll see how long I can make it before Bledsoe and Knight chase me away and make me watch other teams. :p

Sure, let's hope so. I think most of us realize that although they've made some mistakes, they've far outperformed expectations. Note: My post isn't tongue in cheek.
I am wondering what illustrates the combination of this GM and Head Coach having exceeded expectations through last season. They came up with major master plans and gutted them twice.

Now that Jeff has some bulk to work with in the post, we'll see if he can coach all aspects of an NBA playoff team.

Do you agree that, if we have another mediocre season, with changes throughout, Jeff will have shown us what his ceiling is?

Just thought I'd keep score here...

1. Knight will be a disappointment as it becomes evident that his skill set is not a good fit for the role the Suns are asking him to play.

I got that one right.

2. Bledsoe will be constantly mentioned in trade rumors, but will not get traded.

Wrong, at least so far.

3. The Suns will average less than 100 points per game, in both scoring and in points given up.

Not even close.

4. The Suns will start off with a bad record but get it to .500 by Thanksgiving.

I had it backward. They started off pretty well and looked lousy by Thanksgiving. Now they look even worse.

5. Booker will supplant Len and Warren as the most promising young player on the roster.

Probably not; all three have shown flashes and it would be difficult to rank them.

Moral of the story: Don't put a lot of stock in my bold predictions.

Hope you don't still feel the same way because I can personally assure you that the last thing Hornacek will be receiving is an extension after the magnificent job he's done this season.

I haven't researched this, wouldn't know where to start - but I wonder how often a true lame duck coach (as opposed to one that's just going through tough negotiations) ever does a good job? It's hard enough to get all the players on the same page, doing it in the final year of your contract has to be close to a kiss of death.

As for whether I still believe they've outperformed expectations, yes, but only up to the start of this season. This team has more talent than it's showing on the court and that has to be laid at the feet of the coach even if he is a lame duck. We had more talent than we showed last season too but there were extenuating circumstances for the disappointing results. There really aren't many excuses for this season.

I'm still generally satisfied with what McD has done. We had embarrassingly few assets when he took over, now we're middle of the pack (in assets). At some point though those acquired pieces need to fit together. If the next head coach also fails to assemble them into a cohesive unit, you'd have to point fingers in Ryan's direction.

Suns will make the playoffs.

Markieff and Archie will be traded mid season. Markieff will play well and draw serious attention but Archie will likely be filler in the trade.

Bledsoe gets added to the all star roster and he and Knight easily validate the idea of the two combo guard offense.

Booker and Weems become crowd favorites.

Tucker drops out of the starting rotation but still gets minutes guarding the 2, 3 and 4 spots.

I would say OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, ouch and OUCH

I thought Hornacek has another year on his contract but it's a team option. I could be wrong but I vaguely remember reading something about him signing a 4 year deal initially with the 4th year being a team option. If that is the case then he's not really a lame duck coach. If he shows progress compared to last season I think they would bring him back but unless they trade half the roster, again, I doubt he'll come close to getting this team to 500 basketball.
