Interesting. You need to try yourself some Johnny Blue, it might change your mind.
I may have tried Johnny Blue and I don't remember. Drinking for free at Vegas I drink the top tier stuff because I can.

Ha, you would have had to be at some pretty high end venues/tables for anyone to be giving away the Blue.
Southpoint Casino. They let you drink anything below $25 or $30 a drink before they make you pay for it. (as long as you are gambling)

It's probably complete BS, but I also believe the premium stuff gives you less of a hangover.

That tracks with my experience as well. I'll go have a night out with Johnny Black and you go live it up with some Dewar's and we'll see who comes out alive. ;)

I think Dewars is pretty good. Not as good as black. In fact, I think I will drink some black (or gold) now.

Oh, I've had my share of cheap blends that are enjoyable. Cutty Sark, J&B, Dewar's, Clan MacGregor will all do just fine. I just try not to overdue it because of the headache the next day. I'm sure lots of Scotch purists would balk at Johnny Black, so I'm not sticking my nose up by any means.

If you are a purist, I don't want to know you.

My wife and I have been collecting Bourbon over the last three years. Have already made two trips to do the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Easily have over 100 bottles of Bourbon.

Some of our favorites: Weller Antique 107, Blantons Gold, Eagle Rare, Elmer T Lee, Henry McKenna 10 year, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, EH Taylor, Hancock

Here is one of my lucky purchases from last year:

I've been getting into bourbon the past year or so and there are so many different kinds with nuances that it is so enjoyable.

Tonight I'm just drinking a simple old fashioned but it is so freaking good. I found that Buffalo Trace is probably my favorite old fashioned bourbon. I mix it with a little bit of maraschino cherry liqueur, a maraschino cherry with a little bit of its juice, a little bit of demerara simple syrup, a couple dashes of some homemade bitters, and 2 oz of Buffalo Trace over ice. This is probably my favorite drink now. I have a cocktail smoker and I'll do that about half of the time.

Some of my favorite Bourbons that I have in my collection are Widow Jane, several voyages of Jefferson Ocean, Four Roses Single Barrel, Bulleit, Knob Creek, Woodford, Basil Hayden, Maker's Mark, Boondocks, and some Russell.
Our favorite cocktails of late are Old Fashioned and Manhattans. My wife makes the best. Luxardo cherries are a must!!! We typically use Bulleit Bourbon for our mixed drinks. I get the giant bottle from Costco. Everything else we drink neat.

Another Bourbon based Cocktail that I have recently found and enjoyed is the Boulevard:
Bourbon, Grand Marnier, Dry Vermouth and Orange Bitters.
Careful, this one will knock you on your ass!!!

Only 30.00 and it’s damn good I must say…. I checked online reviews before buying it and pretty much solid 4.5 to five stars.

I also enjoy Negronis which are Gin, Campari, Vermouth, bitters, and an orange twist.

Your drink sounds very similar to a Boulevardier which is a Negroni with bourbon - Bourbon, Campari, Vermouth, bitters and orange.

I've never had the Gran Marnier version and that sounds delicious.

Based on the bourbons you listed, I have a few suggestions. I enjoy most of those you listed but haven’t been able to try Jefferson’s Ocean or Widow Jane. If you like Woodford, give the Woodford double Oaked a try, I really like it. Another ide recommend is Old Forester 1920, Old Forester makes a few varieties, but 1920 is my fave.
Love Russell Reserve btw, the single barrel, reddish label options I’ve tried have all been really good!
Bourbon and whiskey can be quite a rabbit hole, happy hunting and tasting.
I forgot that they I have a bottle of Garrison Brothers Blue and actually have a bottle of Old Forester 1920 in my wine cooler. Lol.
